For whatever reason, Nevada/Arizona/Colorado have never been big recruiting areas for us.
That statement may not be entirely accurate. During the Hysell era, Colorado and, interestingly, Minnesota played significant roles as recruiting areas. Noteworthy Minnesotans such as Brent Swaggert, Mike Quast, Paul Diercks, and Brent Ludwig (apparently Hysell only liked linemen out of MN

), were starters for years for the Cats. Colorado natives, including Jonathan Taylor, Ryan Johnson, Lamonte Bell, and Jamie Amicarella, also contributed significantly to the team. While there may be additional names, these individuals come to mind. I've always maintained that the rise of the Dakotas was fueled by their robust recruiting efforts in Minnesota. The Cats enjoyed an advantage for years but lost ground when Kramer shifted his focus away from the state.
