Re: MBB vs UNC
First game I’ve watched. Nice to not see 3 balls being launched every time down the court. Nice win.

Impressive finish! Didn’t see the earlier part of the game but really liked what I saw.

Not quite, Eastern is still undefeated at 3-0. Cats are alone in second as every other team has at least two losses.

Re: MBB vs UNC
I don't think Rocky Mountain would want to tangle again with this bunch.
Earlier I thought the gris would sweep us in basketball to go along with the football game, but these Bobcats
really know how to scrap, especially at home. I'm looking forward to next Saturday. I plan to be there for both games.
We might be the underdogs but I certainly think we care capable of riding a good home crowd to a win.
Go Cats!

Re: MBB vs UNC
Robert Ford III should be player of the week. The guy had 29 points and 24 rebounds this week. Plus a bunch of steals and assists. His grit and hustle is just remarkable. He probably won't get it because his scoring isn't super gaudy, but anybody who watches can't deny his importance to his team.
UNC has some size and Saint Thomas is a load. He'll probably steal newcomer of the year away from Goracke. How did UNC get that guy? The Bears are really hard to stop. Fortunately, they were a little turnover prone and I think they got a little tired. Brandon Walker, whom I've had my criticisms, almost fouled out both their bigs tonight. We hit some big shots and actually pulled away at the end. A really great win against a red hot team.

Re: MBB vs UNC
I wondered about that, but to me, the color looked more like sort of a dark red, rather than pink. Anyway, it was a great win and what an unexpectedly great start in conference play for the MBB team

Concur on Ford. Others have mentioned it already…….but boy I am glad Robert decided to stick with us.

Not bad for a team with high school talent, eh? You could see the signs early in the season, now they're really starting to play cohesively and more consistently. Weber maybe isn't as good as we thought, UM lost to the team MSU beat tonight. I predicted a middle of the pack finish but who knows, maybe they're better than that!MinnesotaBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 10:32 pmThis is turning out to be a really fun team to watch. Go Cats!

Re: MBB vs UNC
Took the night to bask in the glory of the week the Cats had.
The game Thursday against a weakened NAU (Carson Taut and Wistricil) was just what this team needed. They ran a confident offense and solid defense. Four starters in double figures and solid play by all.
Last night was an amazing game against a group of talented, trash talking gym rats. UNC runs a dynamic and potent offense that comes at you full speed and all night long. That combination took out the gris on Thursday and they came into the brick primed and confident. Thomas ran his mouth from the beginning and didn't slow down until the T that was long overdue. Our defense and hustle finally gave us the edge by forcing numerous turnovers and out rebounding the Bears. Again four starters in double figures and Robert and Chica made numerous plays at critical times to maintain the momentum.
Logie's system has all the guys enthusiastically involved and contributing every time.
The way these guys are playing, I'd go see them even if it was -50. This is the best basketball I've seen in the Brick since the 60's.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Re: MBB vs UNC
Gotta admit, this team is much better than I thought they would be this year, which has been a pleasant surprise.
Goracke is a stud! Plying at an all big sky level.
Excited to see what Logie can do these next 2 or 3 years as he builds his team, program, culture, etc.

Yeah i think this is the main point. This team is showing some great improvement and ability to win against decent teams. Imagine what he will be able to do with a full recruiting calendar and some time in the role. This thing was gutted and had to be put back together late, with the basketball equivalent of baling wire and duct tape. Future is bright with coach Logie, you're absolutely correct.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:01 pmCongrats. Logie has brought up a solid team from the ashes. Excited for what he’s gonna do for the program.

Surely you jest! Better than Don Rae, Kermit Young, Tom Storm, Jack Gillespie, a Gustafson, etc.?thefrank1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 8:42 amTook the night to bask in the glory of the week the Cats had.

Looking forward to the Cats opening it up like Hampton, Domako and that group and yes, by tournament time it'll be interesting to watch what this group accomplishes.
Just as Sprinkle did not have a kid stay who scored a single point for USU and he quickly built a roster, it appears Logie is doing the same at MSU.

Re: MBB vs UNC
Ford and Goracke are playing at an all Big Sky level. Otherwise they certainly have some limitations as far as size, athleticism, etc. But what I really like and am impressed with is that they always compete hard, no matter what. If players like Walker and Turner keep improving, and Patterson can come on with his shooting, we could really surprise the Big Sky this year. As others have said, Coach Logie is really doing a great job with this group.
