Precisely. Totally unnecessary. Pure frustration. I’m so sorry for KJ, who would never return such a favor. She’ll just beat you. This Bobcat team is a treasure.HelenaCat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:35 pmIt certainly looked dirty to me. There is no reason that no. 13 had to foul KJ that hard. All she had to do was grab her. Instead, she wrapped one arm around her neck and shoulders and pretty much threw her to the ground with her momentum. May not have been intentional, but it was totally unnecessary.

I agree. Krista “I played for Robin Selvig” Redpath had been babbling about the hostile crowd. Ha! #13 would have been booed out of the place by a hostile crowd. Does anyone remember the night when Alex Jensen undercut Danny Sprinkle on a fast break layup and injured him? Alex got booed every time he touched the ball in Bozeman for as long as he played there.

Re: WBB vs UofM
Easily a two second time span from the time she got the rebound to when she was taken down. If she were a qb and there was a two second time frame and a defensive player roughed the passer... What would the call be?
And the speed of the play was not fast. More than enough time to just touch Limardo for an intentional foul, not a FLAGRANT foul. The gris coach should have immediately sat her.

It looked like they waited for a stretcher that had a special device for holding her head still. Hope it’s just a stinger, but I fear a disk or vertebra injury. Praying for you, KJ. Heart of a Bobcat.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:07 pmReally scary. KJ gets knocked to floor a lot and always bounces up. She’s tougher than she looks and has been one of our most durable players. Her parents were there which is a blessing. Imagine watching your kid get carted off and you’re a 1000 miles away. Thinking of them and KJ right now.

MadJackHall tho. What a game. Reminded me of Kobe vs Celtics in Game 7. Didn't shoot great, but just kept working and working.

Kj is such a dynamic player, on both ends of the court. Another double double this afternoon. Such a warrior.
Also an impressive game, again, by MadJack. Love that kid all all she brings to Bobcat Basketball!

Re: WBB vs UofM
I'm gonna call BS on this. Limardo got the rebound and was momentarily standing there. The gris player, with a running start, grabbed her around the waist with one hand and upper torso neck area with the other and threw her to the floor. Unnecessary, flagrant, intentional and malicious. To top it off, comes off the floor smiling and laughing.Desert_Bobcat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:55 pm100% agree. This wasn’t in the slightest bit dirty. It’s a hard foul, nothing more. Could it have warranted a flagrant, possibly. But I’m still in the camp of a hard foul.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 5:29 pmThis is correct. As someone who played, in that situation you are trying to stop the clock. It wasn’t malicious or dirty. However the intentional/flagrant was warranted.
The thing that makes it look more serious than it is (and 100% has to do with KJ being carted off the court due to injury) is the fact that she weighs about 65 pounds and could get blown away on a normal windy day in Livingston. There is zero muscle mass on the frame to protect or support her from a fall.
Nonetheless it’s a scary moment and you’re obviously hoping for the best. Injury bug is really starting to nip at their
heels
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

Yes, I also saw her smiling on the sideline even after KJ had been down for several minutes. I am not a fan of her at all.

Re: WBB vs UofM
First off, I am extremely thankful that Katelynn will be okay. That was one of the worst moments in my 70+ years of being a Bobcat fan[atic]. So terrifying for KJ and her parents — good that they were there.
There is an absolutely great picture of the takedown by #13 on Skyline Sports (on X). In it you can see:
— The gris has both feet off the floor. The direction of her flying ponytail shows the direction of her momentum which is into KJ and down at quite an angle.
— Her eyes are closed, anticipating the contact. Hard to see the ball with your eyes closed.
— She has just raked KJ across the face with her left hand which is now clamped onto KJ’s left wrist.
— Her right arm is wrapped around KJ’s waist.
— Hard to tell but it looks the official on the far side is reaching toward the wreck.
— KJ hung onto the ball and resisted as hard as she could with her legs, before taking a horrible crash on her back with #13 still partially attached to her.
— In the TV view #13 appears to indicate out-of-bounds for the gris.
That’s what the picture shows and I’m going to call it (not knowing the WBB rules) a flagrant two with ejection (which should include a suspension). I’ve never seen one of Coach Bin’s players ever do anything similar. Basketball is a non-padded sport.
Go, ‘Cats! Katelynn, get well soon. We’re happy you are a ‘Cat. The announcers said at the beginning of the game that Katelynn chose MSU (she had plenty of choices) because she’d get to participate in a rivalry with an involved fan base.
