Re: Danny & The Aggies
You know I'm going to add a question here. Frankly, when I look at the talent that Danny had at Montana State
last year, how do you account for these games? Losing by 30 to Oregon? Losing by 17 to Quinnipiac? Losing to Grand Canyon?
Along with losses in conference to Idaho, EWU, Weber?
Maybe Danny is doing a better coaching job this year at USU than he did at MSU last year given the talent he had on the roster.

Interesting read on the Aggie board. I have to think if he takes the UW job they won’t announce it until USU is out of the tourney.

He has more talent this year especially in depth. Also in MWC his bigs are not always in foul trouble like they were in Big Sky.aucat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:12 amYou know I'm going to add a question here. Frankly, when I look at the talent that Danny had at Montana State

Re: Danny & The Aggies
It's quite obvious Great has really come into his own and stepped up this year, He's probably not done either. He's always been a very raw prospect but you can tell its all starting to click for him. Darius is turning out to be one of the best point guards in the MWC, might as well call him mr clutch. And Raequan is doing the great things we all thought he would, just wish it was in Bozeman. Then there's Mr. Ford, let's just call him Mr. Bobcat and build him a statue already, He's all heart and it bleeds blue and gold.aucat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:12 amYou know I'm going to add a question here. Coulda, woulda, shoulda... but man it would have been fun.
As for Utah State, I hope he takes their entire f-ing roster to Washington.

Re: Danny & The Aggies
I'd be curious to know how much NIL money Moody is getting. Doesn't he have a wife and at least one kid? In the pre-NIL era, you'd think he might have been hesitant to extend his college career that long, versus getting his degree and going out into the real world, so as to better support his family. On the other hand, if he had planned to go to grad school all along, it's a great opportunity to let UM pick up the tab for it. He's a good enough player, that he could probably play pro ball in Europe, if he wanted to pursue that path, right?MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:03 amIf he can't get RaeQuan I hear Aanen Moody may be eligible for an 8th year.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:59 amIt'd really be funny if he could figure out a way to get Raequan back to Udub. I think he's out of eligibility, but these days-who knows?MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:55 amI'd guess so, isn't the Transfer Portal basically a complete free-for-all at this point as the NCAA keeps losing court rulings?BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:53 amWill he take Great with him?MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:52 amThat would be a great move for Danny. I find it funny reading USU's message board, I don't think they're aware that Danny spent most of his coaching career in the LA area and so wouldn't be turned off at all by living in a major city.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:17 amIt's rumored Danny is in the front of the pack for to coach at Washington. Re: Danny & The Aggies
I just read the USU board. I actually was wondering if Washington might come after him a month or two ago. Their program needs a coach, they are headed to the Big Ten, and Sprinkle is the hottest name in coaching west of the Mississippi. Plus, it’s a short flight into Bozeman. It’s a perfect marriage.
In a way I’m glad Sprinkle is already gone because that would be us this year. We now have a good coach in place who will have a full offseason to recruit his players. We are in good hands, and if Sprinkle goes to Washington I can go down to the barn once a year and watch him coach against Goldy Gopher.
I will also be interested to see if any Big Sky coaches are in demand after this season, though I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

Nothing will stop Utah State from hiring Logie if they want him.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Re: Danny & The Aggies
I find it funny that the people on the USU board seem to assume that Danny doesn't like it there due to a lack of "nightlife". I doubt successful D-1 head coaches have much time for that kind of thing...I wonder if this is just an assumption on their part when they see a single, unmarried guy in his 40s in an area where that is more uncommon than in most other parts of the country.

Re: Danny & The Aggies
If Washington moves on from Hopkins, Danny is certainly in the mix there. His name is hot enough that Oregon boosters are grumbling about Dana Altman after three straight seasons of no NCAAs (barring a surprise Pac12 tournament title) and Sprinkle’s name is being mentioned there, too.autocat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 7:34 pmDanny will have been to the NCAA tournament 3 times in the last 3 years with 2 different teams. That being said, I’m guessing in the next couple of months a school is going to offer him twice as much or more and Utah St. is going to be having the same conversations
Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

That won’t happen this off season. It may very happen down the road as Logie builds his resume.

Re: Danny & The Aggies
USU clinched a share of the MWC regular season title last night with a win over San Jose State. Their last regular season game will be this weekend at home vs New Mexico, a win there gets them the outright title. Not bad for a team picked to finish 9th preseason.

If there's one good thing about this situation, its that Montana State is getting a lot of plugs on National TV.

Re: Danny & The Aggies
Not super surprising, Dan Patrick is a Cat fan (or at least he wears a LOT of cat gear all the time) and Ryan Leaf is a MT native. I'm Glad Ryan has been getting his ****** together after all the crap he put himself through in his younger years.Au Blue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:02 amDanny will be on the Dan Patrick show with guest host Ryan Leaf at about 9:25 this morningluckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:53 pmIf there's one good thing about this situation, its that Montana State is getting a lot of plugs on National TV.

Great interview. USU fans can't be encouraged by his last answer. Danny has to be a candidate for all sorts of power conference jobs this off-season with how he has done this year.
Edit: Mike Hopkins officially out at UW after this year. Danny and the WSU coach Kyle Smith who's about to be demoted to the WCC seem to be the two most popular names mentioned.

Re: Danny & The Aggies
If Sprinkle moves up again, USU will hire someone who has more experience at the DI level. Either an assistant from a top program or another red-hot HC like Sprinkle. That is not a knock on Logie

Pretty sure the original comment about Logie was a joke. Unless the Utah State AD has an incredible amount of confidence in Leon Costello's ability to make coaching hires!BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 7:10 amIf Sprinkle moves up again, USU will hire someone who has more experience at the DI level. Danny and the Aggies just clinched the outright MW conference regular season title. Good on him and the players!
