No bad wins in the tournament, especially when you're basically a .500 team. Glad they have a couple days to rest, everybody on the court looked gassed.
No rest days unfortunately, semis are tomorrow and championship is Wednesday.
Yeah I just saw that after I posted. Not sure where I got that in my head.
You were just voicing the wishful thinking that every Bobcat fan was wishing for.
Time to ice bath, hydrate, flush this one and come back tomorrow and play a totally different game.
If you're looking for someone with a little authority, I'm your man. I have as little as anyone!
We're at the tournament and we still get to play tomorrow. That's what matters. I didn't think the girls looked gassed, I just didn't feel they were locked in, tomorrow should be better. Sure we will play EWU that got a day off today, but we match up well and have several reasons to believe we can get by them. If this year has proven anything it is this team can rally and stay in the fight when least expected.
When this team wins, it is usually some shade of ugly. They have trouble getting open, they don't pass particularly well, and are not good shooters. That leaves tenacious defense as the only means of winning. This isn't an insult, but more of a compliment. Given the injuries and youth on this team, it would have been easy to finish in the bottom half of the conference and be one and done in the tournament. They are where they are because they play very good, high effort defense. If they beat EWU, I expect it to be close and ugly and I'll be happy about it.

Good overview. Their never say die attitude causes some crazy things to go their way. I’m not sure in such an end of game situation I’ve ever seen a team inbound into back court and toss it completely over the player, and then have it roll nearly off the court before it was recovered, and then have the player trip while trying to start a dribble and fall out of bounds with the ball. This ability to rally is exactly why I said they have a chance to win this thing, and I still believe. EWU has to be feeling the pressure of having lost at home as the #1 team.
If we can hold everyone to 29 points or less, we can win it outright. Otherwise we’re going to have to get everyone on the same page offensively. Cutters weren’t cutting, screeners weren’t screening, shooters surely weren’t shooting. On the positive side, they are keeping their spacing much better, and mostly refraining from backing or passing into a double or triple-team in the key. Madison looked very good getting inside the zone, and was unlucky the finger roll and layup rolled off the rim. Tired legs, but she was still elevating (we used to call it jumping) better than anyone else on the court.
I feel very happy for all of the Bobcat fans who made the trip to Boise. For both the women AND men to win makes it a great and worthwhile trip.
The last time I attended in Reno both of our teams were "one and done" and since we had plane tickets we got to watch the other teams play for the next few days. I think our men have a much better chance of advancing tomorrow but as we all know, anything can happen. Our guys were woeful at times this season shooting from the perimeter but today they were on fire. Maybe that bug will be caught by the ladies and we can make some shots against EWU. I know we have better shooters than what we saw today, but still, somehow, they won. Good luck Ladies. Go Cats!
Yeah, it was 26-15. That definitely was the biggest equalizer. But man, when they miss 44 shots and you only get 19 of those rebounds, it really is incredible to be competitive in that game, especially when you don't even make as many shots as them.
