boise and mm7...you might want to read the last two posts...
additionally, in my last post i was trying to point out that the underlying attitude expressed by boise and then you mm7 is what is preventing our political parties from getting meaningful work done on important issues of the day...including global warming...
too many influential policy makers are too busy playing gotcha politics or fear mongering socialism while problems get worse...for example...rapidly rising health care and energy costs...
there is another thread addressing "slavish followership"...i posted it in an effort to get posters communicate why they believe what they do when it comes to political or ethical issues...please post yours or pm me...why and how you come to believe what you do would...honestly...be very interesting to me...

lol...does Haps have Wi-FI? If it does, then.........hmmmmm
Of course I'm being extreme. I said that in my post.
I really hope I make good choices too. Many times I don't. I hope I learn from them. But sometimes I don't do that either.
Actually, we should continue this conversation over a few beers someday. I'll bring BAC and you can bring the poster of your choice.

I think that you are the one that is playing gotcha politics. The thread was about Al Gore, his stance on global warming, and the fact that he does not practice what he preaches (nothing new for politicians on either side of the fence.) Your post did not address what the thread was covering instead you attacked GW which I find funny. What does GW and his previous ownership of the Rangers have to do with Al Gore and his stance on global warming? Thats all I was asking.couloir41 wrote:boise and mm7...you might want to read the last two posts...

honestly mm7 you will be at ease once you realize that AG is just running his mouth for publicity. it has nothing to do with beliefs or he would have traded in his learjet for the coach section on a delta flightMM7CAT wrote:I think that you are the one that is playing gotcha politics. So are you arguing that the gov't needs to step it up? Make it illegal to be over a certain BMI? Make all SUV's over a certain MPG illegal? Make all gambeling illegal? Why don't we mandate a religion while we're at it? Or maybe get rid of them all. We could try a little prohibition too. I bet that would take off this time.iaafan wrote: Unfortunately leaving it to an individual decision probably won’t work. It’d sure be nice if that’s how it worked with everything. Gambling and unhealthy fast food, too. You can go on and on. There are people who will create bad things and sell them to us without even batting an eye. All of those habits, like our vehicle habit, have been marketed in a way that makes many feel they’re ‘losers’ if they don’t have the ‘cool’ car (SUV, ½ ton pickup, etc.). As you know a lot of people take a huge amount of pride in what they drive, despite how inane that is. They got a lot of help in being that way from the auto industry’s marketing execs. It’s really sad to see someone dump their life savings into a SUV they barely afford, but it happens all the time. It’s one thing for rich people who can’t find anything else to spend their money on to do that.
I understand these are all in peoples best interest, but God didn't take away man's choice to make these decision. Why should our government?

I don't know what BMI is. Yes, I'd vote for making vehicles over a certain MPG. No, I wouldn't vote to make all gambling illegal. I'd vote for getting rid of religion.ChiOCat wrote:So are you arguing that the gov't needs to step it up? Make it illegal to be over a certain BMI? Make all SUV's over a certain MPG illegal? I'm agnostic, so I'd say if there is a God and if you're going down that road, then God gave us brains to figure out how to do a lot of things, but conviently those folks who invoke what God did or didn't do, don't use that same rationale when talking abortion, stem cell, pulling the plug, etc.

My rational when it comes to what? I asked you why you felt the need to bring GW into the mix when everyone else was talking about Al. I did not interject my political views at all, I just find it funny that the Bush haters of the world take any chance they can get to bash him even when the subject is about something completely different. I do not agree with everything Bush does but I also do not beleive that he is the worst President ever. I find that people's affiliation with different parties depends largely on their views on social issues. I tend to lean to the right on these issues and that is an opinion i am entitled to and one that I do not need to justify to anyone. Now, back to MY question, what does Bush have to do with the original topic of this thread?couloir41 wrote:mm7...

BMI is Body Mass Index. It's a BS measurement that's supposed to tell you how "healthy" you are. The higher your BMI is, the more unhealthy you are.iaafan wrote:

Yes, God gave us the ability to think and do. He gave us free will to do anything we want. But he also gave us some rules and comandments. I don't want to get into a religious debate, just pointing out that free will, and brains do fit into most religious beliefs.

I don't want to get into a religious debate either, but I'd really like to know if there's a God or not. That would things so much easier. Then if he/she/it would lets us in on which religion is the one to follow, bingo!, we could really get some things down here on ol' Planet Earth. I mean we're not asking for a lot of God's time and we're willing to let God set a date, location and time, so that we can have the cameras ready to save what he does (maybe a couple miracles would be a nice touch) for future generations.ChiOCat wrote:BMI is Body Mass Index. One religion I'd like to see, and I think this keeps us on thread, is one that worships Earth. While it isn't personified, it is tangible. Actually it is somewhat tangible in that Earth may be letting us know that we're causing global warming.

mm7...but to answer your question...as i am sure you recall i responded with the gw facts in response to your post regarding al gore...that's what it has to do with your post and the topic of this thread...MM7CAT wrote:My rational when it comes to what? i made it very clear that i was bringing up gw to point out if you take the time to research anyone you can find contradictory and hypocritical information to rebutt any argument or position they present...for example ralph reed or al gore...you so eloqently pointed out...apparently has some contradictions to deal with...right...????
thank you for your effort to answer my inquiry regarding how you have come to your political beliefs...i appreciate it...that's is all you had to do to begin with...emoticon with a some goofy political banner here...
