Choate had a similar "first commit" timeframe. Usually either May or June....but there also was the occasional MT kid that committed early. Earliest one I can remember was Derek Marks who committed to Ash & Co. in like February of the prior year.

Lot of guys showing up committing to Nevada. Seems normal since we'd be going after a lot of the same guys. Are you plugged in enough to know how Choate and Co are doing with recruiting? Obviously lots of guys--any sense or chatter out there about the quality? I fully expect Choate to upgrade their talent pretty much immediately (except maybe QB), but I'm curious if that's been a notable upgrade.

I'm not plugged into anything and I'm no recruiting expert, that would be Vims area of expertise. I never followed UNR much before Choate went there, so I have no clue what their talent level is, other than they were not a very good football program the past few years. I have noticed that Choate and company are hitting the state of Montana more than UNR coaches ever did before. UNR coaches are also hitting MSUs past recruiting hotspots but that makes sense since they were recruiting those areas when they were at MSU. It does drive me nuts sometimes when a player picks UNR over MSU since MSU wins way more games, has more fans at their games, and has just as good, if not better, facilities. Those FBS initials go a long way sometimes and Choate is a dynamic guy and great recruiter. Choate also seems to be doing what he did his first year or two at MSU, offer everyone with a modicum of talent and hope to find some diamonds. Heck, he has picked up at least two former Bobcat receivers.

I've also noticed that DumB and MSU out of state offers have been overlapping more than they have in the past few years.

UNR and UNM are forecast to be 2 of 3 bottom teams fighting for last place this year in the MW. seems like they could use a lot of recruits the MSU is going after.
