Is the UM IPB getting close to completion? I haven’t heard much about it lately? Should be a ribbon-cutting or champagne-bottle-over-the-bow event coming soon I’d expect.

I think they cancelled the champagne breaking. The bottle kept bouncing off the bubble.
Thanks, rivercat, but is this is the best you guys can do? I set you guys up (sharp scissors near big ballon, trying to break bottle over soft fabric) like the mother of all liberos and this is it? I know it's the off-season and many a rapier comic on this board are lying dormant. Maybe I'm living in the past and everyone has moved on from giving UM crap about the smallest of details between the two schools.
I'm ready for their grand opening.

Yeah, I was between casts and only had a few seconds but someone needed to start. Great setup.
I just assumed they were waiting for someone to fly in and show them how to put air in it.

I heard they had to reorder the custom turf so the opening was delayed. Some idiot spelled gris with a "z."

I went up to Hyalite today and stopped by MSU to take some photos. I also took some pics of the parking lot construction. I'll put those pics in the parking lot thread and post some pics here of the fitness center too. They took down the fencing around the fitness center and have started doing the landscaping, so that must be close to being finished.

The most shocking moment of my afternoon happened at the Ale Works. I went there for dinner and as I was standing in line, I struck up a conversation with a lady from Bozeman. She was an MSU grad too. I mentioned Troy Andersen and she said; "Who is Troy Andersen?" Blasphemy!!! :x As I rained blows upon her, I realized there had to be another way! I then calmly picked her up and explained how Troy was one of the greatest Bobcats of all time and if she valued living in Montana, she better embrace that fact.

Okay, the rained blows part is from Seinfeld, but the rest actually happened.

Back in 2018, on the 100th anniversary of Cy Gattons death, I put a framed photo of Cy and a wreath with a Bobcat cow bell next to the old Gatton field gate. The photo was there for years before it basically disintegrated due to the weather. I tossed the photo in the trash on a visit a few years ago. However, today I noticed the wreath is still there, nearly six years later. I didn’t walk over to look at it since the caution tape was there but I can see the wreath on the ground between two of the columns. I wonder how long it will stay?

Not counting stadiums with tracks do any other FCS members have this setup or look? I wonder how many DI programs have a set up like this.
Are you referring to the outdoor track next to the indoor track? Or the indoor track with the smaller fb end zones, cut off by the 300m track? UND is similar, but the outdoor track is combined with the football practice field. Although the track is around the FB practice field, the former stadium has been torn down. I was going to say SDSU was similar as well, but I just checked and was surprised to see that they have no outdoor track what so ever. NDSU probably has the ideal setup, as they have a dedicated indoor track (200m) and a separate indoor practice fb field, but there is a short walk between the indoor track and the outdoor track. I don't think the 200m track has banked turns, although it probably should. I think Dacotah field is only used for soccer now.

Outdoor track, indoor track and football stadium all in one location. Practically on top of each other.

Whenever they make improvements to Kegy Blvd. there should be a pedestrian underpass leading to the grass practice fields of Dyche Field connecting to the rest of campus.

The IPF NEZ is almost even with the SEZ of the stadium. The IPF is actually closer (I’m sure this has been pointed out already) to the T&F stadium, which is cool for the track team as I’m sure they feel like they’re second fiddle a lot. Great selling point for T&F as well.
I'd say Idaho has a comparable set up. Heck, their basketball arena is close to the other facilities as well. No true indoor practice track facility though even though they do have meets inside Kibbie.

I had to stare at the practice field for awhile to figure out what I was looking at. Two 70 yard fields sitting end-to-end?

I wonder if one is turf and one is grass. I know a lot of schools have both but I can't tell on there.

I highly doubt they'd go to the effort and expense of painting the end zone and midfield logo of a grass practice field.

Yeah I had that thought too. Turns out they have two different kinds of turf fields outside. One more traditional one and another that's supposed to better mimic the feel of a natural field, called a Brock PowerBase/Pro.

They haven’t made the announcement. I hear it’s just a paperwork issue. I haven’t heard a completion date but I’m told it should be useable late fall. I believe the bubble for the temporary student athletic center will be available for use, if needed.
