That's a pretty elite pole vaulter--21st in the country this year. 16'6" would have been the 4th best in the BSC this spring. The 110H time is really solid (would've been 6th best in MT this year, and we had some pretty good ones this year in MT), so I think they'll make a multi-event guy out of him. He threw the discus and the javelin this year and he tried the long jump some. Not very good in those, but I'm guessing he didn't work at them much. A guy who hurdles and pole vaults doesn't have much practice time left...PV takes a lot of time every day because most schools just have one pit, so you're taking turns with 20-30 other kids trying to get reps in.

He did compete in the Decathlon as a junior at a summer meet in WA and did well. I could see him scoring a lot of points assuming his work on other events doesn't take away from his pole vault.

Bobcats also signed Blaise Snow, a middle distance runner from Santa Barbara, CA. His times are really good and should be a nice addition in the 800 and 1500. 4:11 in the 1600 is good enough to be the best in MT almost any year other than this year. It's better than Duncan Robinson, Ben Perrin, and Levi Taylor ran in high school, and they've obviously all been great Bobcats. Of course, factoring in elevation it might be closer to their times, but still that's really fast. He should be a great one.

I was about to post this. Drake went to Vanguard University (NAIA) in California for his freshman year. His 60 time was ranked 1st in the nation in the NAIA according to athletic.net. Now that might not be accurate--that's just the best time of all NAIA meets that used athletic.net to post results in the indoor season. His 100 and 200 times are solid, but he'll need to get to the 10.5 range to be in the mix in the 100 and the low 21's in the 200. Unless he makes big improvements he might not be a BSC champ, BUT it's great to have 7-8 guys that can run a better than average 100 so you can put together a great relay team.
