Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

My wife and I got to visit him last Wednesday before he died. He was a great coach, mentor and male role model
for me. I will miss him.

Rest in Peace Coach Starner. Quite the life he lived as a coach and later as a major donations fund raiser for a number of different institutions in Texas, Michigan and back at MSU.
Interesting side note, as I was reading an old article from when the Bobcats first hired him as a head men's bball coach, one of the finalists for the job was George Karl, who at the time, was coaching in the old CBA in Great Falls - the Montana Golden Nuggets.

I figured you'd have a response here, Tom. I was still in a diaper in the mid 80's, but my parents raved about Bobcat basketball during the Starner/Ferch/Domako era. Grew up in Livingston and the so the Ferch brothers were local legends. Condolences on losing such a great mentor.
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Starner's teams were to fun to watch. They played hard and intense. He was a Bobcat through and through. I believe he even came back to Bozeman after his daughter passed away and led the MSU Foundation for a short time.
RIP coach....
