Historically, that’s not a bad strategy. If all else fails, blame it on the Russians.
“Systematic doping of Russian athletes has resulted in 51 Olympic medals stripped from Russia (and Russian associated teams), four times the number of the next highest, and more than 30% of the global total. Russia has the most competitors who have been caught doping at the Olympic Games in the world, with more than 150.”

Maybe not all of them. I see media outlets (Boston Globe) apologizing about saying this woman was a man transitioning to a woman. I also see media outlets accusing other media outlets of spreading false info about her. https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-new ... rcna165395
So, based on that I'm under the impression that people are making false claims about her and that they were found to be wrong. I then found it interesting that the Russians vacated her win over a previously undefeated Russian. Thought that was so very Russian. Is there now new info that this person is actually a man transitioning to a woman? I don't see anything recent about that, just old stories that I assume have been proven to be false.

This is really cool! Reading through all this offers zero clarity and lots of confusion. Then a few posters pretending to want to know what I think of it. Hilarious. Nobody cares what I think.

Men have xy chromosomes and women have xx chromosomes. These two tested and showed they had xy chromosomes. This was posted numerous times in the first two pages of this thread, including articles that reported on that fact. Given that you are a journalist by trade, I assumed that you actually did a little background reading on this. Instead, you casually introduce the Russians as creating the controversy. Hmmm…. Where have we heard the left introduce the Russians as a convenient excuse??…. Hopefully you can see why I thought you were trolling.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 9:12 amReally? I have no idea why you're introducing politics into this. My comment about Russia jerking this girl over and forcing her to vacate a win over, coincidentally their undefeated star, has nothing to do about politics. Anyway, for what has the left introduced the Russians as a convenient excuse? I took your hint and did a search on that and nothing came up. Russians (Putin, athletic trainers, et al) cheat, meddle, murder and just generally try to create chaos throughout the world on a continual on-going basis. I know of no instances where they were falsely accused by the left or right. Continue.

Your are either extremely naive or are trolling. You would have to be living under a rock to not recall the left media's narrative of Russia collusion with Trump. And your position of allowing men to compete against women falls right in line with the lefts narrative. You claim to be a moderate, but I can’t recall you ever taking a moderate position.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:05 pmWell, sorry, my journalistic acumen didn’t live up to your expectations.Cataholic wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 1:27 pmMen have xy chromosomes and women have xx chromosomes. Naturally. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with anyone thinking that Russia and Trump are colluding with each other. Just like there’s nothing wrong with thinking that the Russians are cheating in sports. They literally have a track record of cheating and meddling. In the USA, we immediately get suspicious when a baseball player suddenly starts hitting better. Just ask Royce Lewis of the Minnesota Twins.
Russia will work with anyone willing to harm the USA or advance their own cause The USA should always be on high alert and look into any hints of someone colluding with Russia. If you go around telling people you think Putin is a good guy and asking Russia to dig up dirt on political rivals it raises red flags whether you’re conservative, liberal or moderate.
I have voted for numerous republican candidates over the years. I even voted for Trump vbs Clinton. I’m much more conservative than most conservatives on several issues. Voted for Dole. Voted for Racicot. Voted for lots of conservatives that you’ve probably never heard of.
Anyone cozying up with Russia is suspicious. I don’t care what party they belong to. As a veteran and American I would never trust anyone that sides with Russia over USA and will never trust any action they take on any issue no matter of whether I agree with them or not. And I absolutely would never, ever trust them on this issue of this female boxer. They were pissed that their big star lost the match and knew about the controversy surrounding her opponent so they just vacated her win to keep their star on top. If their star had been, say, a Navalny supporter, they never would’ve done that.
People in Russia are jailed for their anti-Putin politics. Americans are thrown in jail and held against their will for bogus reasons. The list is immense.
Imagine how the right wing media would react if any democrat did what Trump did. Naturally, they would react the same and who could blame them.

You think, I'm either trying to troll or be funny? I'm saying continue after saying I don't know what xy chromosones are and I'm honestly not sure why you're bring that up, but I'm not reading anything into your post, just asking for further info if you think it's relevent to the discussion.Cataholic wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 8:37 amNot sure if you are trying to be funny or a troll, but some of us were trying to have a reasonable discussion. Have you not read any articles on the facts surrounding the situation?TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:05 pmI don’t even know what xy chromosomes are. Continue.Cataholic wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 11:13 amYou think this whole thing about the boxers having xy chromosomes is made up?TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:56 amAn interesting side note about what I believe wbtfg touched on earlier is that when the Russians booted her out of the competition there, it was after she beat a Russian that was undefeated. They had actually tested her before the two fought and then "coincidentally" found that she had tested positive, or whatever, and restored their boxer's undefeated record. Yay, Russia! I do feel sorry for Russian athletes. So many great athletes that have had their accomplishments tainted for a whole host of things and now this. Thought I'd seen it all.
The fact the Russians did this fed into this faux controversy and played a big role in getting a bunch of people riled up and at each other's throats all across the world.
Continue.
Given you were posting an opinion that you believe strongly enough to argue with other posters, I would only assume that you had done a minimal amount of research - like read the earlier posts
Continue.
We are discussing a specific event at the Olympics where a competitor is being allowed to fight in the women’s division despite showing signs of male biology, specifically xy chromosomes.
Despite being a journalist by profession, you haven’t done much background reading on this specific incident. You are not educated on the XY chromosomes, specifically in this instance. Yet you argue like your positions are fact based.
You believe men should be allowed to play against girls. Once angain, you argue with posters as if this is a fact.
In your arguments, you insinuate a Russia “conspiracy” that the “girls failed a gender test” to preserve the Russians record. Hence, implying this is just another made up controversy.
You have a clear left position, at least on this subject. You are also passionately anti-Trump as exhibited in past posts and also this one. YOU introduced Russia - not me. I was simply drawing the lines that you laid in place.
In your last paragraph, I am stumped. What are you referring to?

I think we should go to the real brains and ask Tim “Weird” Walz what he thinks!
