i will go first... why didn't coach challenge the second tommy fumble? it looked like the arm was coming forward when is dislodged by contact?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
The play was already reviewed, so there was no need to challenge. It looked to me like the ball came loose pretty much right as the hand started coming forward, but it wasn't clear. IMO, the call on the field would have stood either way had they called it a fumble or an incomplete pass. The better call to challenge may have been the spot on 4th and 1 that came up short, although again we never saw a replay angle that clearly showed the spot was wrong so it's very likely the call would have stood.Montanabob wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 1:39 pmi will go first... why didn't coach challenge the second tommy fumble? it looked like the arm was coming forward when is dislodged by contact?

Only way spot was accurate is if they said whistle blew before he fell forward and replay show no whistle until he hit groundMSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 2:05 pmThe play was already reviewed, so there was no need to challenge. Nice job @Montanabob for getting it kicked off. Episode for Monday night will be normal format now that the season is going. Recap UNM and preview Utah Tech.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
This is probably a question for coach but why the hell with 10 seconds left on the clock do we kickoff into the end zone and give them the ball with zero time taken off the clock and the ball on the 25 yrd line. I get it if there’s 30 ticks or so. Squib kick it deep and get them to make a decision and take some time off. The end zone kick sets up a probable Hail Mary and potential pass interference. They did the exact same thing last year in a game and I’m like WTF. Is it just me with this thought process?Common Cat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 11:08 amSubmit your Golden Coolie questions here for the R&R Cat Cast. Ball on 25, no odd return possible. PI only moves to 40, so would need a couple.BFcatfan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:15 pmThis is probably a question for coach but why the hell with 10 seconds left on the clock do we kickoff into the end zone and give them the ball with zero time taken off the clock and the ball on the 25 yrd line. Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Even if you kick it short they can just fair catch it and the result is the same as a touchback. I've never been a fan of the squib kick unless there are one or two seconds left. I tend to prefer just booting it out of the end zone and not risking a return TD especially with the recent rule changes.BFcatfan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:15 pmThis is probably a question for coach but why the hell with 10 seconds left on the clock do we kickoff into the end zone and give them the ball with zero time taken off the clock and the ball on the 25 yrd line. Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Given the next 6 weeks are very easy, would you like to see Jordan Reed start for an entire game to give him experience and save mileage on Tommy? If so, which game?

Which one of you turned the game off in the 3rd quarter and had to rush to find a tv after learning of the 93 yard TD?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
We didn’t seem to be getting any pressure on the QB this weekend. Is it a Defensive philosophy thing from Daly, a typical first game of the year, learning as you go thing, or do we need to intentionalize more pressure packages from the LB-DB spots? Tagging on, can we risk blitzing a LB who isn’t fast enough like Troy A was, or as talented as Callahan O was…not calling out anyone here, more recognizing every year the group brings it’s strengths and personality that is different. Are we a blitzing D?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Tommy still has plenty to work on if we're going to win a title so he needs to play at least a quarter in every game. I'd love it if he didn't play after halftime for the next month though.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
I've seen this comment multiple times in the past few days, and I don't quite understand it. Gotta consider the finer details of this specific game before jumping to the conclusion that the MSU DL isn't a strength this season. Their OL was MASSIVE, pretty dang talented, and Dampier is a true dual threat QB, very elusive. And the Cats didn't bring a ton of pressure, they mostly tried to keep everything in front of them. Also, the Cats dominated the TOP, resulting in fewer chances to make plays on defense. l thought the DL held up very well against the run and did a good job at containing Dampier. His one big TD run was due to the LB's and secondary being fooled by the ball fake, DL did their job on that play.catsrback76 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:19 amWe didn’t seem to be getting any pressure on the QB this weekend. If MSU doesn't generate more pressure from the DL next week at Utah Tech, then I'll start to be concerned..
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
With a return to a one quarterback system, does this allow for more players to be pulled from the talent satchel and a better "Team" focus?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Would you rather have:
A defense that gives up 0 first downs and 41 yards through three quarters.
A defense that has 4 sacks, 8 TFL, 2 forced fumbles, and a pick six but also gives up 21 points through 3 quarters.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Do think Tommy being such a cerebral player plays a role in his slow starts? Does he overthink things and it takes him a minute to calm down and play?
