That is an overly simplistic view of the people who are upset with Vigen. The fact is the first three quarters of the game a ton of the same mistakes that were made from a coaching standpoint were repeated with new coordinators. At some point there’s only one explanation left…
Happy to see the win. Bottom line is we all want to see wins. I don’t care who the coach is, if Vigen is gonna do it that’s great. If he’s gonna continue to make mistakes I’m gonna complain about the mistakes simple as that.
Is is simplistic to say that you dislike Vigen and have since you joined the board?
I’m pretty sure Vigen stole his lunch money when they were kids.
I actually don’t have too much of a problem with his stance. But where has he been all off season, specifically the last couple of months talking about Bobcat football. The posters on this board have discussed Vigens pros and cons. I’ve been as critical as anyone towards Vigen, especially last fall. But, to wait until game one and things not going right to chime in and bash him. I dunno. For some reason that’s the part I don’t like. But, it’s a gameday thread and I’ve made my share of absolutely stupid posts.

No, he just stole my faith in his ability to coach last year
I mean, if our coach can't be perfect, why is he even the coach? Right?
I mean, if our coach can’t beat teams with winning records in his third season, why is he even the coach? Right?
Happy for a win over on FBS team but it’s unlikely NM will have a winning record
Only thing better than watching the gris lose is when the Cats win

Onto Utah Tech. 1-0!!!
Vigen pros: 1) recruiting, his first season was a very talented roster mostly recruited prior to him being hired. The talent has only gone up every year. That is a huge pro. 2) other than one maybe two defensive personnel decisions he seems to always start and play the right players. Both of those are huge pros.
Cons: 1)Play calls that I don’t agree with in critical situations. 2) Poor performance against the gris, Idaho and losing a winnable game against the Bison.
Frankly, if they tweak the playcalling in games a little bit and Beat winning teams this season I would shut up and be a Vigen supporter again. His first two seasons, I didn’t complain at all.

It is pretty rich that people think you shouldn’t post on a fan website with emotions (good or bad). I guess some people are uncomfortable with emotions.
Some people would really about a thread where only positive things can be said. Perhaps one should be made.
Another message board I lurk on to follow one of my pro teams actually shuts down the board to posts completely while games are in progress. It definitely shuts down the emotional overreactions but seems a bit over the top. Better idea is that individuals can just choose to not participate in or read the game threads if the negativity bothers them that much!
What an amazing and novel idea! Nevermind, this is the internet it'll never work.

He has only been head coach during the most successful span in the history of our program. Seems like those of pretty solid results. You however might be the definition of an entitled fan.

Yeah, Vigen only has the highest winning percentage of any coach in MSU history, with more than two seasons, and the most playoff wins too.

How many teams did he beat last season that had winning records?

Losing to SDSU and NDSU sucked, but those were clearly winnable games that could have gone either way. Disappointing finishes obviously, but winning/losing a coin flip game doesn’t make or break a coach. Now the UM game, that was a bigger deal.

I really like Vigen, actually think he’s the best coach we’ve had, but all coaches are open to criticism. Logic like yours would’ve made it so Ash was never fired.

Agreed, no coach is above criticism. Most wins over three seasons doesn’t mean he’s beyond reproach or criticism. Doesn’t mean he can’t improve in some areas and make better decisions. The source of annoyance is repeating issues. That’s the source of frustration

I have no problem with legitimate criticism but calling for Vigen to be fired like this guy is doing, is over the top ridiculous and can be called out as such.
Watching the replay right now. I'm even more heated about the egregious 4th down spot. Listening to the announcers it almost sounded as if the officials explained to Vigen the whistle blew and that's where the spot was. There was nothing in that play that screamed forward progress has been stopped. No whistle should have been blowing. It won't do any good, but I emailed the MW and told them look at that play specifically. Pretty damn terrible.
I was also hoping that NCAA.COM would have the FCS statistics up right now. That would look really good for us... except for, well, you know what.
At the beginning of the 4th quarter, it would have been great to see this post: "All the Cats have to do is score three touchdowns and for the defense to hold New Mexico to 3 points or less."
I can't imagine a better game for the team to learn a ton of lessons. Among them, we learned what works for us. Biggest lesson: Faith!

Tony Storti ‘56-‘57 Herb Agocs ‘58 is a better three year span than Vigen’s. 27-3-1

But you would have fired Storti after his first two seasons when he went 6-9.

Couldn’t have fired him, he was the AD too. And he was rebuilding when he went 6-9, I give rebuilds a longer leash. Vigen hasn’t been in the same county as a rebuild.
