NDSU looked good the first half, average the second half. We’d beat them.
Whoa! Please elaborate.
I think our line is better, I think our backs are better, I think we’re better coached. Colorado, outside of like 3-4 players, is pretty below average.
If the NDSU team that played last night plays the MSU team I saw play in UNM, I think the Bizons win by a couple TDs at least. However, if they play the MSU team that I THINK we see Saturday night, I think the Cats win.

That was my gut reaction as well. The season is looonnnggg. So, who knows what either team will look like in December.

We didn’t look better coached against New Mexico. We shot ourselves in the foot for 3 quarters.
First half drives 6, 5, 6, 6, 10, 5. Moved the ball, had some poor passes and fumble as well as a receiver fall down. 2nd half 3, 10, 10, 6, 1, 11. No 3 and outs. 27 1st downs, 6-12 3rd down, 567 yards not having Mellott run. Defense gave up 1-8 3rd downs, 324 yards 17 points. +9 TOP, and shooting self in foot isn't necessarily on coaches.

Nor did we see any poor coaching. A questionable call or 2, but no coordinator is going to have a perfect game in any game.

I’m not saying we didn’t play good, but we made a lot of mistakes. Turnovers, penalties, pass blocking left some things to be desired, secondary got bailed out by two drops on 3rd downs. I think we’re just as talented as any team in the FCS, but to say we looked better coached than NDSU in that first game seems silly to me. I’m no football expert, I’m just a fan, but it looked like their execution and discipline were miles ahead of ours in the first game.

Its apples to ponies. CU was able to get their special athletes at WR running into free space and that's how they scored. The Buffs had 59 yards rushing on 23 attempts so the run game got stuffed. Now I'm pretty sure the Cats run game is much more lethal but to get any sort of gauge that we can beat NDSU based on how that game went last night is fools gold. The Cats and CU couldn't be any different when it come to the way they play football.

I saw more questionable play calls and poor clock decisions in game 1 from their new HC than Brent, that’s for darn sure.

I know we can run on NDSU. I think that’s pretty well established. I’m just saying that I didn’t come away thinking they’re any better than they were last year, and we were better than them last year.

"but no coordinator is going to have a perfect game in any game."

Yet that seems to be the standard they are held to on BN.

Yeah, I just meant that if someone allows two TDs off turnovers, they almost always lose, like 97.5% of the time, so I would think NDSU would probably beat MSU given that. The thing is, there aren't many teams that can allow two TDs off TOs and still win.

I was going to say the same thing, NDSU coaches didn't call a perfect game by any stretch. I'm not sure how you can blame Mellott's fumbles and the PIs bad coaching. Were it not for that MSU probably wins that game going away, but (again) so hard to say so early in the season. For instance, way back in 2023: UM lost to NAU, which then lost to Utah Tech, which had lost to UM by a lot prior to that last year...yet UM goes to the NC game. UM must've had good coaching...I won't hold my breath waiting for droves of MSU fans to agree with that.

NDSU had receivers multiple times with no one close, that is either coaching or lack of talent. Pass blocking when you have a reshuffle line and blitzing we had no film on will lead to mistakes. How many were there in 2nd half. Coaches made good adjustments

Been perusing OKSt media etc and man I hope the team is different than the stuff I’m reading. They are not taking SDSU seriously. It’s different than CU. They gave some respect to NDSU.

I didn’t at all like the 4th down play call with 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Empty backfield, no protection or options, D pins ears back and sack Tommy. That was a call from the staff I started yelling at before the snap! [-X

So one play call you didn’t like? I’ll take that every week. The coaches did a great job. One of the best player on the team gives up 14 points and the defense gives up 75 yards in pass interference and unsportsmanlike calls and you still win…that’s some freaking awesome coaching and play calling, my word!!! One of the best coaching jobs I’ve seen anywhere by any team in any sport. Show me another game where the team messes up this bad and the team still won. I won’t hold my breath.

Has there ever been a game in MSU history where they gave up two touchdowns on offensive turnovers, yet still won the game, against any opponent that anyone here can recall?

New Mexico will probably go 3-9 this year but still, those guys were big on the o-line and fast at skill positions.

Yeah, playoffs in 1984; Bradley threw two pick sixes to the same Arkansas State linebacker, Billy Ray Bowers. The Cats were down 14-0 after those interceptions but came back to win 31 -14. 14:50 in the video.

Yeah, I was at that game too and I probably watched this video a thousand times in 1985 alone. That's why I remember those plays.
