Albany barely beat Long Island who is in like their 2nd year of football and is currently 0-3, having just lost to Lehigh. Albany vs Maine next week will be interesting to watch from a we've both played one team in this game standpoint.

Idaho is looking more impressive than I thought they would. Losing all those players, and I wasn't sold on Eck but he has it going right now it seems.

New poll were #3 still BUT note the 1st place votes and margin especially in the coaches poll
https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/ ... fcs-top-25
Feels indicative of the group of voters who don't watch versus those that do. Some saw NDSU and SDSU struggle against poor teams and rightfully dropped them a little but the ones who just see they won keep them #1 and #2. They both looked extremely vulnerable Saturday.
Not sure how good Albany is but Idaho looks really good Saturday. Glad we have them at home this year.
I think when the season is over the Albany and Wyoming wins won't really be good wins except the FBS moniker. The committee will see the Albany as a then ranked win but Albany won't be ranked at the end of the season (although the CAA is absolute hot garbage so maybe they get enough to hang in there). Wyoming is very likely a 0-12 or 1-11 team.

Hopefully the Vandals keep winning so when they visit the Cat's they are a top 3 team that will be a big win for MSU but their schedule is:
@ACU
@UCDavis
vs NAU
@MSU

I bet they go .500 or worse over the next month. Davis has owned them the last few years and I think the Cats win by multiple scores. Abilene Christian is no pushover and neither is NAU.
I think Idaho is going to blow the doors off Abilene. ACU won't score more than 10-13 points. They'll beat NAU by 17+. Davis will probably be a tight game.

I agree with on Idaho, but I've always thought Eck was a hell of a coach.

Yep, if all actually watched be at least #2 margin so small easily could of been 2nd especially in coaches

The winner of the bobcats vs. Idaho game could very well be the two seed

For the Cats I hope your right. ACU put up 51 against Texas Tech and 38 and 24 in their other games but Idaho defense combined with their offensive mindset could keep it low. It's in Abilene so I think it ends up closer game than people think.

ACU fought hard to make it a game but fell short. Put up a lot of yards in the second half on the Vandals defense. I still think Idaho gets exposed a little over the next 3 weeks.

ACU didn't try to do much other than pass in the second half, but it worked well for them. Wagner started to buckle when ACU got some pressure, so we'll see how that goes in the coming weeks.

I’m pretty worried Idaho is going to shred our secondary. But I’ll see how things progress for both teams first.

If they attempt to pass like they did last night, whoever the QB is in that game will be dead by the end of the game. Eck is too smart for that though. Wagner was bad when he got pressute last night. I doubt they do a ton of deep drops and long balls against us. It'll probably be quick passing so we can't get pressure.

Wow, some great games on tap for this weekend! Five ranked vs ranked games, if I weren't spending most of Saturday on the road to and from Pocatello it would be a long day on the couch with ESPN+ going.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; MSU has an FBS win and NDSU has an FBS loss and yet, we continue to be ranked below them. That's dumb and these pollsters should feel bad about that.

NDSU has 2 ranked wins against the current #9 and #16 teams in which they destroyed them. Their FBS loss is also to a P4 team that is currently 4-1. If I had a vote, they would be my #1 right now. Combined record of NDSU opponents this year 21-13. They have a top 10 SOS as of right now. Cats combined opponent record is 9-26 and we have an SOS in the 70s. It will all shake out by the end of week 13.

My top 10
#1 NDSU
#2 SDSU
#3 MSU
#4 USD
#5 UC-Davis
#6 Idaho
#7 Nova
#8 Mercer
#9 SEMO
#10 Tarleton

They've given up 24, 0, and 3 points to FCS opponents this year, and have a win over the current #15 team in the country. As the defending champs, they get the benefit of the doubt when their only loss is to a P4 team. If/when we win this weekend, I would put us above them though. The winner of the Marker in 2 weeks will be #1 barring any other losses until at least the 11/11 poll. The loser should be #2 or #3 depending on what happens with our game Saturday.

Yep, good description. I 100% agree with the DSUs being #1 and #2 right now, zero questions about that. I also know that the powers that be probably want to do whatever they can to set up a showdown between NDSU and SDSU in Frisco. It is what it is. the ONLY way would lose my $&#* over all this is if the Cats win out and are not #1 or #2. I don't think there's any way that could ever happen but if they did put one of the above MSU with two losses..... again, I'd lose my ****. lol

I would buy the NDSU argument, so why is SDSU higher
They've given up 24, 0, and 3 points to FCS opponents this year, and have a win over the current #15 team in the country. As the defending champs, they get the benefit of the doubt when their only loss is to a P4 team. If/when we win this weekend, I would put us above them though. The winner of the Marker in 2 weeks will be #1 barring any other losses until at least the 11/11 poll. The loser should be #2 or #3 depending on what happens with our game Saturday.
Therin lies the problem.what happened last year should have no bearing on this year's polls. Griz started out high because of that with people forgetting they lost 8 or 9 starters on defense. SDSU has a lot back so maybe justified, but they list. Ranked wins early are meaningless if that team ends up 3 and 9.

It might be a problem, but how would polls ever exist before week 5 or 6 without some info from last year? You're right about ranked wins being meaningless if a team goes 3-9. The Albany win doesn't do crap for Idaho now, but the UIW win is still a good win for SDSU, and it will be in 6 weeks too. The committee has always said FBS losses don't hurt a school, so why should SDSU be below us when they have played a better schedule (at least FCS wise) than we have, with a ranked FCS win, and started above us? Once we have that ranked win though, we should absolutely jump them. We won't, but we should.
