Any updates on the KSAC?
I saw Leon said it wouldn’t be finished until spring in his email this week.
Drove by today. They are starting to put the exterior on the west wall.
Drove by yesterday, it would have been really cool if there was a way to leave the south facing end all glass or something, the view is amazing.

I know we saw renderings a few years/months ago, does anyone know what the final product will look like? I’m hoping it’s not all just white and there are some large logos on it. The roof seems like an awesome place for a giant bobcat logo
It would make sense to use some translucent panels on the south end to take advantage of natural lighting like they did with the Kibbie Dome. It’s my understanding this is a prefabricated structure so not sure there is much room to customize any of its design.
I believe they went away from the prefabricated structure and its 100% constructed via design and on site, "normal construction".

I'd be surprised if there was much glass in the structure, especially on the South end zone due to the glare it would bring. There are some rectangular windows on the sides of the building and some windows near the doors though.

This is the view that's looking towards the North doors.

Image

And view to the South.

Image

The vertical and horizontal rectangular windows are also visible on the sides of the structure.

Image

I'm sure they will find a way to decorate the sides and end zone areas with all sorts of Bobcat stuff.

just wondering if they lined up the building windows correctly to get the right shadows that are on the field? hate to not be planning ahead.

Let's say a guy wants to go for a run while visiting. That would be a kick to be able to do that, if allowed for non-students.

I heard they wanted to include a retractable roof and walls so they could include weather elements into the indoor practice facility too. :-^

Does that also include turf that slides out of the way?

I thought I heard, maybe during the groundbreaking ceremony, that it would be open to the public at times. I think some of the donations from community businesses stipulated that. The ski team should use it for dry ground exercises and team building. It’s an asset that should be utilized year round by all of Bobcat Athletics. So long as it doesn’t interfere with football.

Does anyone know if the roof is enclosed yet?

I know they're not part of Bobcat Athletics but letting the rugby and lacrosse teams get some early spring practice time indoors would be really great.

They put turf in the North Bubble also, I'm assuming part of the justification for that is rugby/lacrosse/soccer in wintertime

Yup, even local kid soccer teams will be using it.

The football team is also already using the North bubble for practice until the new indoor is finished. Obviously, they will use it more and more as the weather deteriorates.

I lived in SLC for 15 years - used the Utes indoor facility many times - due to source funding a requirement was open access - had my boys' soccer, t-ball, and football practices and games inside that facility. Great boost for the community at large.

Is that side wall the only one that is up and is it up all the way to the far corner?
They're definitely going to need some help from the weather to get that enclosed before winter.
I'm looking forward to seeing it at the game this weekend.

Some additional photos that I took. I believe Tomcat commented on its size of the indoor once, viewing it coming down the hill on Kagy. It really sticks out coming down that hill, just massive. The top of the indoor is close in height to the top of the press box tower.
