They’ve got talent with plenty of transfers. We will have to take them serious and take care of business.

UT Martin thumps....but we're a clear step faster. We win by 30.
Idaho vs Lehigh? Guess it depends on what Idaho shows up.

Watching UT Martin vs Tennessee State because why not? UT Martin shot ahead 21-0 then TSU runs a kickoff back for a touchdown. TSU then hits a long touchdown pass and its 21-14 at the end of the 1st quarter. I know the game ends up 28-21 with UTM winning. UTM's quarterback could be a problem. Big kid who can run and throw. TSU is all over the place-just like in the griz game.

Yards can be had through the air-should we choose to throw it at all. Their d-line is big and pretty fast. Who will we have available at running back? Do we take the pressure off the running backs this week?

They just threw an interception inside the 5 yard line when they were about to score. Boogie Trotter just dropped a sure thing interception that could have been a pick 6.SparkCat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 1:24 pmDidn’t Tennessee cough the ball up 3 times too?BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:35 pmWatching UT Martin vs Tennessee State because why not? Re: UT-Martin
TSU gets a touchdown on a nice fade route in the endzone with 1:09 left in the 3rd quarter. That closes the scoring. TSU did most of their damage through the air.
UTM is intercepted as the quarterback is hit when he's throwing and its a pop fly. But on the return TSU fumbles and UTM recovers. Wild stuff happens when TSU plays!

TSU throws another interception inside the redzone with 7 minutes left. Both interceptions were really bad-just staring down the receiver.

Re: UT-Martin
TSU had it on the 10, but pass on 4th down into the endzone was incomplete. They were close!
My very unqualified summary: UTM has some good athletes. Run a lot of the same type of stuff that we do on offense. Quarterback is dangerous running and an adequate thrower. Their d-line is big and fast-maybe a little like UC Davis? This could be a good game to feed the wide receivers and tight ends.I think they'll hit some plays, but ultimately, not enough. Bobcats should win. Colson Coon might have a big day.

Yes and yes. Plus we'll want to put Adam Jones in bubble wrap as early as possible. Martin, TN is at 400 feet above sea level. I'm hoping their very big interior linemen wear out.iaafan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:26 pmDo you think Davis and Humphrey will be out? Re: UT-Martin
We have a lot of transfers, but nowadays most programs do. Dent (QB) came from Ole Miss where he was recruited by Lane Kiffin. His problem is he's either on or he's off, no middle of the road. He was off against Tennessee Tech or else we would've won. Since the middle of the Lindenwood game Dent has been really solid. He's definitely not a running QB, but we do some designed runs for him. If no one is open he has no problem taking off, and Dent has surprising speed, but he's not a world class sprinter. Patrick Smith (RB) transferred from Vanderbilt and he's really good. Smith has average size and good speed, but he's a really smart and patient runner. Our OL is really good especially at the guards and center position. Our tackles are huge 6'8 330 & 6'5 320 and we bring in a converted O lineman at TE 6'5 270 to help with the run game. We used to have a lot of receivers with great size, but this year we have smaller guys but they have a ton of speed. Our top 3 WRs are from Florida. At TE we have an FBS transfer that's good, Dowling (Kansas) is 6'6 240 and he's got good speed and unfortunately in the UNH game we lost our other good TE Dostin (Kent State). He was tackled awkwardly from behind and suffered a nasty ankle injury. Our defense is extremely good at stopping the run. So our back up TE is now Bowling 6'4 225 he's just a redshirt freshman. Most teams give up on the run by halftime. That's why we have given so many yards through the air, and the fact most teams have trailed against us and they start throwing the ball more. We typically run our defense out of the 3-3-5. The strength of our defense is our LBs and they're BIG and fast Shipp 6'2 235, Hunter 6'1 230, Sharpe 6'3 240, and Pleas 6'3 230 they're good at picking off passes as they have accounted for 10 INTs. The secondary has two All-Americans in Baker and McGoy. Our punter is the kicker too, Van Winkle, he's an above average punter and he was having a good year kicking until three weeks ago. He missed a game tying 29 yard FG against Tennessee Tech. Last week he missed a 49 yarder, missed a PAT, and had a PAT blocked that was returned for 2 points. Last week against UNH he did make two FGs and every PAT, so it seems he is back on track. Jason Simpson is our head coach, he's in his 19th year here and has won 5 conference championships. His oldest son is the backup QB at Alabama and his youngest is probably the best high school freshman QB in the state.
