Very true. So then you have to hope they come in with the right attitude, mesh with the other players, not cuss out, or be cussed out by the head coach on national television, stuff like that. I like the way Vigen does things much better. Program building has such better long term results.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 8:54 amThey'll do the same thing they did this year, load up on transfers. It was amazing last night how many of their players were described as a transfer from some other school. Vigen is building a program from the ground up, while Hauck is desperately chasing his championship with "quick fixes" every year.

I ventured over there, it’s the truth. There is a good amount that think they have a great shot at an upset. I concluded that a lot of posters over there are morons, and also scratch my head on why so many Cat fans post over there, its weird.

Re: First-Round of Playoffs
Looking at the attendance the gris didn't break the 13000 number, 12800. Less than half full.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Dakota states get upset before Frisco. I just don't see the griz doing it without a couple punt returns and +3 or more in turnovers. Pretty unlikely.

Re: First-Round of Playoffs
I don't see anyone on that side of the bracket with a realistic shot at pulling an upset, let alone two upsets over both the DSU schools. I think it's a near certainty that either NDSU or SDSU will emerge from that half of the bracket. On the other side I see MSU, USD, and Davis as the three contenders.

There were quite a few that thought they'd beat the Cats too. How'd that work out?SparkCat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:27 amI ventured over there, it’s the truth. Re: First-Round of Playoffs
The freshman RB from Hawaii is pretty good. Only played 1 other game and went for 150. He and Gillman could be good combo. They need help at WR, OL, TE and pick a QB. Defense will need to replace a ton.nanacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:18 amI was reading the game play-by-play being reported on 406 Sports and they started 3 or 4 guys at least, to fill in for injured players, who haven't been mentioned all season. The Cats are so fortunate to have the depth we do that losing 24 seniors will be tough, but there's a plethora of guys who got alot of real game experience that will be able to fill in many of those spots. There will be holes for sure, but it won't be a total rebuild like over west.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 8:44 amThey are very thin on am already thin defense with what's coming back. The 3 main receivers are all seniors. Wonder about Gillman and Fife re: the portal but if they can't significantly improve up front it hardly matters. And it's hard to significantly improve up front at this level in 1 year. We should be seeing that next wave of guys flash for them, the way sharbobo, parsons, Crews, daily et al have this year, the way McCabe and brott did last year, etc. We haven't seen much from them. I think it's a long year next year over there.

I'll say this, people who bet the gris to cover throughout the season are flat broke.

Another reason the gris have to be thankful for Choate leaving MSU.

Re: First-Round of Playoffs
Yeah i agree. You don't replace a Marcus wehr easily. But with fleischmann, mastel, Cedric Jefferson having all played this year, and dylan Rollins among others sitting there, you've got a real start on a dominant line again. Have a stable of backs, some capable wr and good players at TE. I think we need qb depth and at least 1 starting safety for transfers.nanacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:18 amI was reading the game play-by-play being reported on 406 Sports and they started 3 or 4 guys at least, to fill in for injured players, who haven't been mentioned all season. If Chance Wilson can be an average QB next year, MSU will be a top 5 team.

The season not being over didn’t stop McKay from quitting when Tommy moved ahead of him for the playoffs. Fife probably doesn’t do the same, but there is precedent.

There are some portal guys that will be worth a look, too, but I like what I’ve seen from Chance in limited time this season. Wasn’t wild about the “smoking” celebration I saw on the sidelines during the Saf State game but if it isn’t tested for these days, oh well, I did the same in college.

Re: First-Round of Playoffs
Chance and a few other players did the toking mimic near the end of the Sac State game on the sidelines. No big deal if they smoke, but didn’t love seeing it on the field. I’d feel the same if they mimicked shotgunning a beer, especially with next year’s QB doing that, which is what happened.
