Looking at the attendance the gris didn't break the 13000 number, 12800. Less than half full.
Eddie George says at 6:19 into his press conference that the noise in Wash-Griz was as loud as Baltimore, Wisconsin or Penn State.
Yawn.
Gotta love that Griz press ask that after every win. Haven't heard the question yet after a home loss.
Another chapter in dUMb’s long search for confirmation. It’s a sad story indeed.
“Hey, Eddie. Eddie! We’re big time, right? You think we’re cool, right? Right?!”
“Yeah, you’re pretty good.”
“Eddie said we’re big time.”
So pathetic.
Yep. That guy's such a class act they could have played Northern Colorado and he probably would have said it was one of the louder crowds he's ever heard.
So you think and speak for Eddie George? Why take the time to mention Baltimore, and Wisconsin, and Penn State, and compare them to Missoula? Why lie?
It's called coach speak, but don't get all butt hurt over it. I'm sure you're half size crowd was nice and loud, so don't worry - you guys done good. I remember an opposing coach saying Washington Grizzly was louder than Autzen. (Psssst - it isn't).
Funny enough, nobody here said Eck was full of coach speak when he said we were comparable to when they played Oregon.
WaGriz is loud, even when it’s half full. It’s a cool thing. It’s okay to admit that.

This is where I land on this as well. Fricken awesome we have some of the best fan bases in college football. We are damn lucky!

But still, FTG, mony mony, go Jacks.
Belligerent and Cody nailed it. Eddie George heard what he heard and said what he said, straight up. It’s ridiculous to pretend the observation would have gone unnoticed had it applied to Bobcat Stadium. And for all of you who say Cat fans don’t want to talk about it, why do you keep talking about it?
Lots of people who were at the 2006 MSU vs Furman game said that was one of the loudest crowds ever for an MSU game. That was just 9,427. I think @ilovethecats has always beaten that drum. The thing about UM and MSU crowds is the fans are all engaged and yelling. I've been to stadiums with over 50,000 where the fans just don't get all that excited and they don't make anything close to the sound that UM and MSU crowds make. So, it makes sense that despite a small number, there's still lots of noise and that George was impressed.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023). toMStUber

I was there in 2006. My sister-in-law was with me and had never been to an MSU game but had been to games at US C and UCLA. She said it was the loudest game she had ever been to.(or to which she had been. (For my high school in your teacher)) But we were in the middle of the student section L O L

For me, the loudest crowds and energy in Reno/Bobcat stadium that I've been a part of were the Rhode Island game (12,000+ fans) in '84 and the SDSU game in '21. In '84 it was the interception and following kickoff recovery. I've never heard a stadium roar like that. There is some video out there from the field level of that SDSU game that's just wild; McCutcheon's back shoulder TD catch, Troy's 4th down stop, and one of Daniel Hardy's sacks. Heck, even the first half of the Idaho game this year was pretty wild. I thought for a minute that I was at a Cat/gris game.

Would have to agree. Rewatching the Idaho game this year, the crowd was pretty impressive.

Most MSU posts compare stadium to itself. ,i.e. the loudest game I've been too. Not many compare it to all other stadiums. And it just seems like every time Griz win they make a point to ask the opponent about the noise. It is loud, it is a benefit to them, but they won because Bergen ran back 2 kicks and they missed 5 tackles on long TD run, not because the crowd was loud. Texas/Texas AM, had 100,000 standing, waiving towels and yelling at end of that game, would seem like it would be louder. Architecture helps play a part as well. For FCS WA Griz is top level

This game has always stood out to me. Every single person in the stands that day was into it and LOUD!!
I just learn so many new things on Bobcatnation. Like up until this weekend, I had no idea Washington-grizzly stadium is loud. I can't believe griz fans have been keeping that a secret.

I was there. The blocked punt happened right in front of my seats. It was loud and that was before the endzone seats were in that end. It was fun.

If you go to the 5:30 minute mark on George’s press conference video and watch from there, you’ll see that it was George who brought up the crowd noise on his own, unprompted, as a major factor. Nobody asked him to compare Wash-Griz to other stadiums. He just said on his own that it was as loud as Baltimore, Wisconsin, and Penn State.

Congratulations, your fans from Montana are louder than other fans in the nation. It must be something in the water over there to be able to be physically louder than other humans. Your stadium acoustics are also superior to all other stadiums in the world and that is something you should bask in the glory of, even though, unless you are Denny, you had little to nothing to do with.

You know your team is having a rough year when you feel the need to go to the rival fanbase message board to thump your chest over how loud your half full stadium is in the first round of the playoffs. This of course, after getting pretty well dominated by said rival the weekend before.
Hopefully that half-full loud stadium will help the product that is on the field for the gris while they're on the road this week.

Aside from the “cowbell” remark, you won’t find an unkind word I have posted about the rival or the rival’s facility (unlike others’ comments above). Hypocrisy much?
Look at the subject line of the thread. Kick me for what Eddie George says?

Nobody posted anything negative about um's facility, other than it was half full...which it literally was. Super cool story that Eddie George thought it was loud though. That'll really come in handy this weekend against SDSU.

That’s why this thread is called “First Round of Playoffs.” Imagine the audacity to post what one of the coaches in the first round said about a first-round game. Didn’t expect it to open a large can of butt hurt in Bozeman. Apologies.
