Who are the teams to beat this season in the high school ranks? Class C boys….Box Elder and Scobey? Others? AA? A? B?

AA - Butte, CMR, Capital,
A - Frenchtown, Billings Central, Lockwood
B - Loyola - battle for 2nd Malta, Manhattan

That is my guess.
Box Elder and Loyola heavy favorites to repeat.

I would add Hellgate to the AA. And Dillon to the A.

I watched Box Elder’s Tracen Jilot score 63 points in a game last year. Now with Jilot laid up due to an injury suffered during the Bear’s title run in 6-man football this fall, his teammate Tuarie Stiffarm-Rosette scored 51 points last night. Crazy.. How many teams have EVER had teammates that have each scored over 50 points in a game?

Does anybody know an easy source to look up high school boys basketball schedules.? I seem to be harder and harder to find. Bought a Bozeman chronicle today and they had no high school sports in it whatsoever
I miss the days when the Billings Gazette was easy to get and actually covered Montana high school sports in print. Sorry I’m old-fashioned but even searching online seems to be more difficult than it should be

Will be following this one. I used to rely on MaxPreps to follow Cali and Montana schools. Maybe I am just getting older and more dense, but somebody messed up the MaxPrep site.

This seems to be the best site, but good luck finding a box score….

Www.406mtsports.com. has recaps with score and leading scorers. Has paywall so use incognito mode. Can use https://406mtsports.myteamscoop.com/ and get more detailed info

Thanks Teton for the suggestion. I usually have no problem finding scores, it’s schedules I’m looking for. I travel and when I’m in an area I’d like to look up what games are going on in that area and take in a game.
And when you do find them a lot of individuals that put them in the print forget the etiquette of listing who is playing where typically.
The gazette, the Tribune, the missoulian oh are you still list alphabetical and daily schedules.

Guess the world keeps on changing and I’m not changing with it very well.
A few years back I had a man approached me at the Bobcat football game and asked if I was the individual that wrote the letter to the Gazette in regards to their prep sports coverage.
He argued that their coverage was as good as it is ever been. I challenged him to look at microfiche of 80s and 90s gazettes and get back to me. I never did hear from him again and he avoided eye Contact any time he ended up sitting close to me at a game.
Long time rags have hidden themselves online and refuse to engage the communities in which they once served in these areas. Maybe I am part of a dying breed that has interest in high school athletics from border to border.
I was hoping there was a source that covered these and I was missing where to locate it.
Oh well… end rant!

Both of those spots if you dig into them have schedules of some type. Mtn Sports if you go to scoreboard you can tab to upcoming games just only gives you next few days. 406mtsports there is a link on top for schedules.

If you are really in a bind, NFHS streams pretty much every JV and Varsity basketball game in the state. It only costs about $10 per month. The automated motion activated camera can be frustrating, but it is a great tool. It also provides a listing of every game with tip off time and location under each school.

AA - Butte, CMR, Capital,
A - Frenchtown, Billings Central, Lockwood
B - Loyola - battle for 2nd Malta, Manhattan

That is my guess.
Box Elder and Loyola heavy favorites to repeat.
Little over half way. Top right now are
AA. Helena, West
A Dillon, Lockwood, BC
B. Loyola. Lodge Grass, Fairfield, 3 Forks
C. Box Elder (best player out and still haven't lost), Scobey

Helena High has looked really good so far. The only loss was to Gallatin when the Bengals absolutely collapsed in the 4th quarter and were outscored 19-5. They have a chemistry that I haven't seen in 20 years of Bengal basketball. Tough game at Butte tonight though. And with Butte's Hudson Luedtke on the precipice of breaking the all-time Butte High scoring record tonight, it could be a highly charged contest.

Tied at half. Helena High down by 11 at start of the 4th. Butte has hit 13 3-pointers so far. Ten Wetzel is not playing for the Bengals tonight and they are struggling to drive to the basket.

You nailed this one. Bozeman also knock off Gallatin. Maybe AA is wide open. Lodge Grass lost to HP

I knew Tevin Wetzel was out due to illness and thought that may have an impact on the game. Bengals didn't have the same ability to drive inside and started off with a lot of perimeter passing and missed 3-pointers (I think they started 1 for 6). Midway through the 4th, they pressed and forced several turnovers. Battled back and ended up losing by 1. You'd never know it was a close game from the 406 MT Sports headline, because they claim it was a Bulldog rout ](*,) Butte's Torre Tempel was on fire, hitting nine 3's and scoring 29.
