Re: UT-Martin
Maybe I've missed it but haven't heard anything concerning if cow bells are allowed this year at play-off games. In the past they supposedly haven't been allowed but I know that some venues have enforced that rule while other venues seemed to have not gotten the memo. In the first round I watched the ACU vs NAU game on ESPN+ and it was obvious that there were cow bells. So does anyone know for sure what the rule is this year?
I did a quick search for NCAA rules and found the following.
NCAA Playing Rules Summary:
Artificial Crowd Noise
Rules Committee Decision
Football Approved
Artificial crowd noise, by conference policy or mutual consent of the
institutions, is allowed. The noise level must be consistent throughout the game
for both teams. However, all current rules remain in effect dealing with bands,
music and other sounds. When the snap is imminent, the band/music must stop
playing. As with all administrative rules, the referee may stop the game and
direct game management to adjust

I like that fans bring cowbells to games but putting your hands around you mouth, bringing a megaphone or making one from the programs they hand out and focusing your voice is far more effective IMO. My two cents.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 8:21 pmMaybe I've missed it but haven't heard anything concerning if cow bells are allowed this year at play-off games. That was also our QBs first start and on top of that there was very high wind. Crowd will have 5-7k more people and will be way more energetic. Yes a couple of guys have been to Bozeman but it will feel a little different this time around. Luckily for you guys the weather will very tame for December. UTM seems to have a promising future but they are going to run into the best team playing in the best environment.Skyhawks84 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 6:33 amI wouldn't base your opinion off our worst game of the year.HogheadCats wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 11:32 pmI watched some the UTM vs. Tennessee Tech game....and I wasn't that impressed. I felt like I was watching an NAIA game. Not saying that I think we are going to absolutely destroy them, but I really think if the Cats show up like they have all season and the crowd is 15K-18K and up, we shouldn't have much of a problem.
Coach Simpson said it best on the podcast this week about the 2021 game. We were a shell of ourselves offensively and it was a 13-7 game going into the fourth quarter. Now I know someone is gonna say this 2024 is waaaay better than your 2021 team. Guess what? We're waaaay better than our 2021 team too.
Who knows we might get blown out, but having that 2021 experience of playing there is invaluable, and like I said earlier having it be a one score game going into the fourth. We weren't overwhelmed last time in that environment. Just my opinion.

Re: UT-Martin
I assume UT Martin is traveling this afternoon, can anybody confirm that?

I don't recall it being this quiet on this board with a home playoff game in two days. Same on egriz in regards to SDSU. No one is talking playoffs. No issue with it, just odd seeing it on both boards.

I think that in the case of MSU we’ve had two weeks extended talk already so it’s gotten a little quiet for a couple of days. I also think nobody really knows what to expect out of the UT Martin. And other than the one poster don’t have much opposing fan banter.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 12:22 pmI don't recall it being this quiet on this board with a home playoff game in two days. I’ve got a couple of different thoughts on which way the game can go I haven’t posted much because work has been crazy busy.

OK, thanks
I know earlier in the week in one of his interviews the coach said he "assumed" they would travel on Thursday like 2 years ago.

Griz fans know their season is over, they’re already in hibernation mode…they can’t even celebrate over their win in the early signings cause the cats took most of the top in state recruits from them.kwcat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 12:26 pmI think that in the case of MSU we’ve had two weeks extended talk already so it’s gotten a little quiet for a couple of days. No, his game is in Chattanooga. The plane leaves right as that game ends or close to the end.

Off topic, but does anybody remember what dumb team thought staying in Helena was their best option when they played us?

Can’t remember, but then their flight was delayed and they didn’t get up there until after midnight or something crazy.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:55 pmOff topic, but does anybody remember what dumb team thought staying in Helena was their best option when they played us?
