How long before a player lists his NIL in his intro?Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:04 amKinda wonder if Seabass becomes a starter somewhere and plays on Sunday Night football, what he will say in his intro. Wouldn't be shocked if he said Montana State.Travelingcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 9:57 amOne interesting side effect of the portal is that I think we're going to have a lot more players long-term who wind up on NFL rosters after playing at least some of their college careers with us. They will transfer to "big" schools and NFL teams will be more comfortable in drafting them as "proven" commodities.
Sebastian Valdez made honorable mention all-big 10 (out of 18 teams) this year, and probably would have done better if Washington hadn't struggled. I still think he's an NFL guy.
TJ Session started for three years at cal
Rush Reimer started at Cal this year and did very well
Omar Aigbedion was the top-rated Baylor Lineman on PFF.
One can debate how much any of these should count as our guys, but speaking personally, guys like Valdez and Reimer who played three years with us, were on the team for four, and (I believe) picked up a degree, certainly count fully as Bobcats in my eyes.

Will probably follow the New Mexico OC, that just took the OC job at Utah (not Utah State).tetoncat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:56 pmOr his coach is going to USU and he will followSparkCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:49 pmI secretly was hoping he’d enter and by some chance we pick him up. Although, he basically was their offense and there were some games he put up video game like numbers. It wouldn’t surprise me if he went FCS. However, maybe he wants to win and he would definitely stand out.
Was offered around a $700K NIL to stay at New Mexico, but that wasn't good enough.

Not a chance that Dampier would leave UNM for MSU after the year he had. He's either following the staff to Utah State or moving up.

I hope MJ absolutely kills it at another school. I’ve got some awesome memories of him from 2016 when he was a freshman…..
….kidding. But he seems like he’s been around for about 12 years. But he was electric and I hope he crushes it in his last year
I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level

Vigen is definitely a bigger man than I. Both Marqui and Bullock were on the sideline today.

Honestly, because neither have played, I’m sure both have assisted on practice squad, so they have earned it. I thought Bullock was going to be decent. Marqui had a few good games, I also remember him making some strange decisions when the ball was is in hand, sometimes a bit of a liability of trying to do to much, I can see why, even now healthy, hasn’t had a chance to play.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:06 pmVigen is definitely a bigger man than I. I don’t see any upside in being surly with them. They’re leaving because they can’t get on the field.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:06 pmVigen is definitely a bigger man than I. Both Marqui and Bullock were on the sideline today.

You're right, although I doubt many coaches would do that.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:43 pmI don’t see any upside in being surly with them. Idaho's ex-QB last year, Gevani McCoy, who went to Oregon State, is back in the portal.
Saw it on Ssm Herder's Twitter feed.

That would be a nice addition to our roster. Guessing though NIL will push him to a G5 roster somewhere.

I really wonder if the coaches will go after him? He’s a great athlete, he played for a terrible Oregon.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:34 pmHe’d be perfect.

My guess is he's looking for a bigger payday than MSU can give him.SparkCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:52 pmI really wonder if the coaches will go after him? He’s a great athlete, he played for a terrible Oregon.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:34 pmHe’d be perfect.

If they still want to be involved with the team, then as far as I'm concerned they should be encouraged to do that. Keeping players off the sideline sounds like something Bobby Hauck would do and I don't want MSU to be that kind of program. I guarantee the players and coaches are supportive of the guys who are transferring and still consider them to be a part of the team as long as they're still here.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:06 pmVigen is definitely a bigger man than I. Re: Any Portal News Yet
Unless the player is leaving for a big NIL deal, they are likely looking for a better opportunity to play. Transferring can be a fresh start on a team that needs their abilities and also frees up a scholarship for the team they are leaving. No need to feel jilted.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 10:20 pmIf they still want to be involved with the team, then as far as I'm concerned they should be encouraged to do that.
