WBB vs Oral Roberts

Post by Wrangler » Sat Dec 07, 2024 6:52 pm

Women are currently in OT against a solid Oral Roberts team. Otral Roberts recently dropped a contest with NAU by 7 points.

Cats ended up losing by 2 in OT, 82-80. In other games, after MSU beat them by 30 in Bozeman, South Dakota took down NAU today at home. Playing road games is hard! Kind of a bummer that neither the men nor the women will play another game in Bozeman until conference play starts in January.

ORU had 24 second chance points. As good as we are our "missing link" is a strong inside post game. We got out rebounded 48-30. NAU is going to be really tough for us because they have a very strong inside game that we are missing. We seem to live and die by the 3. We have lots of good shooters and when we are on, we will be tough to beat, even without a strong inside game. However, if the shots are not falling, it will be up to our pressure defense forcing turnovers and also the fast up and down play given our depth.

Would you not have to agree two of our strongest post players are recovering and just shy of playing soon. Bin has said she expects Jensen and Deden back in January. This will add a depth to our post position and likely give us more inside looks. Marah is a strong player but opposing teams know it and guard the hell out of her. It's a shame Lindsey Hein isn't playing, I was so looking forward to a season of her dominating under the hoop!

Not sure why we were out of position on rebounding; according to Bin's comments, "They had us on skates all night." As she said, the team will learn for the loss and grow.

Looking back at the last nine games (I didn't consider the exhibition game); MSU has lost the 2nd chance points battle in three games. They lost one of the those three games. Over all they win the 2nd chance points battle by an average of over 150%. Where MSU really shines is points off of turnovers. They lost the battle in one game (Utah) but have out scored their opponents 228 to 106.

I'm still very excited about this team, the individuals, and how they are playing together. Lexi and Taylor will bring needed depth and will help with diversity at the position. We've seen a lot of great play from this team and they will only get better!
