I’ve got a couple of different thoughts on which way the game can go I haven’t posted much because work has been crazy busy.

Crickets. Put them on the Bill and Mary list.
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

No need for the opposing fans to come on here and tell us how great we are. This isn't eGriz.

Re: UT-Martin
I visited with a couple SkyHawk fans who were tailgating north of Kagy. Nice folks. Live in Arkansas, went to UTM. They told me their best team in a long time was the 2021 team that lost at MSU 26-7. They felt this years team did not measure up to that team.
They gave me an insight into what being a small fish in a large pond - meaning a relatively obscure college in a state with lots of bigger colleges - is like. They get virtually no local kids to stick around, they all go to Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, or to one of a zillion D1 schools within a couple hundred miles of Tennessee. So UTM relies on mostly out of state kids and transfers. No Tennessee kids dream of playing for Tennessee Martin in the way that Montana kids dream of playing for MSU (or on rare occasions, that other school). In addition, the UTM fan base is very small and not very rabid. Even alumni don't show up or travel far to attend games. This couple was the exception, they said this was their 261st game, despite the fact that UTM lost 44 straight (!) while they were in school.
Reminds me we have much to be thankful for.

Re: UT-Martin
That's interesting. They're lucky in that they have a coach that's there for the long term-he's their Bear Bryant. I think their in-state rivals, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech are in the same boat-along with Austin Peay who are in a different conference for some reason. They'll be a landing pad for all those kids who transfer out of those nearby bigger programs. The new transfer allowances will probably really bolster that league.84CatGrad wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 4:58 pmI visited with a couple SkyHawk fans who were tailgating north of Kagy. Nice folks. Shoutout to fans like them. That's great for a program like that that may not have the biggest support out there, but there's some passionate fans who are there to support their team every damn week. Flying out this far from Arkansas/Tennessee is a huge ask, and it probably means a lot to the players to see some fans on the road this far from home. If they can get other fans to buy in, that's how you build a good fan culture. I hope they enjoyed the trip out and enjoyed our lovely stadium, campus, town, and state84CatGrad wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 4:58 pmI visited with a couple SkyHawk fans who were tailgating north of Kagy. Did they bring a little bit of Tennessee dirt with them?

@tetoncat I agree. No passion or fire at all in that. Makes me even more thankful for our culture.

There are all kinds of these things. Northern Arizona used to have a guy carry an axe and they would sink it in the ground. I saw a grisser carrying a sludge hammer and hit the ground in the end zone.
