He looks really good against Pioneer League teams. Maybe they’re thinking he will be the blitzing linebacker like Riley Wilson was this year and move Riley to a more normal linebacker position.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 8:22 amA 6'1" 232 lb senior on the defensive line. I'd assume he'll head to Northern Iowa with his HC.MTFootball wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:31 amHe looks really good against Pioneer League teams. That could be and maybe that works. But if their plan is to keep him on the DL, I think that's hilarious.MTFootball wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:31 amHe looks really good against Pioneer League teams. It's also another guy for them that they would bring in with only one year of eligibility. So if it doesn't work right away, it doesn't work at all. And even if it does work, they're right back to having to fill that spot again in 2026.
That's another big difference between the two programs-- UM not only brings in a lot more transfers; they also bring in more guys who are one and done.
The Cats go with quality over quantity and focus on guys who can play 2+ years (e.g. Davis, Jones, McCullouch, Alexander, King, Sain, Reed, Eckert, Johnson, Polidore).

That seems like the most likely, and also the stupidest thing they could do. I would keep Wilson where he is.MTFootball wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:31 amHe looks really good against Pioneer League teams. Yeah this was kinda my point. They graduated nearly 30 seniors but only signed 14ish high school kids. Now with Fife in the portal and who knows how many else its seems as though they have quite a few open scholarships available.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:59 amThat could be and maybe that works. In 2016 Choate came in and the Cats stunk for a couple seasons. What he was doing though was building a base with which to have continued success year in and out with home grown, in house developed players. The proof is in the fact that I fully expect the Cats to win Friday and make their 4th semifinal in 5 seasons and move on to a 2nd Frisco appearance. Its sustained success that only MSU, NDSU, SDSU can claim. The only way UM could replicate this is do the same thing. They point to last season but that was a one off flash in the pan, they also had zero shot at winning that game. They should use their schollies like you said, to bring in high school or 2+ year players that can grow in the system. Accept that next season could be a rough one but they would come out the other side a better program. Good to see though as a Cat fan that they are still buying 1 year lottery tickets.

The griz sucking next year with a bunch of HS recruits to build on wouldn't impact Bobbi's job status. The griz sucking next year with a bunch of portal players will definitely impact Bobbi's job status. Once Bergen is gone and can't bail Bobbi out on multiple occasions like he has for the last two years, he's in real trouble.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 10:37 amYeah this was kinda my point. Those are eye-popping stats with that sad offensive line.
FBS schools are definitely going to have interest.
Seems like the family is all-in on the Gris though.

Do we think our coaches will be active in the portal during the playoff run, or are we laser focused on game planning and will wait on portal shopping?

It seems they have been following DB's in the portal so I think we bring in a CB and Safety. We always bring in a transfer Oline and WR freshman or Sophomore to develop.
