This is part of portal I don't understand. Fife never really stood out at Fresno State, drops down and has a good but not great year, even if it was his best. Transfers again and moves back up? Everyone just seems to be chasing and not developing.

I'm guessing his reason for leaving Missoula was different than why he left Fresno.

It's just not that complicated. Scottre got hurt against Davis...likely a high ankle. Tried to give it a go against the Griz and was clearly still hobbled. Gets two weeks and looks good against UT Martin but clearly tweaks it in the 2nd half. Turns into a game time decision the next week, tries to give it a go in pregame (which was reported), and coaches shut him down.

Rohan hurt his ankle against the Griz, is doubtful after two weeks rest but questionable last week. Looked okay in warmups but also go shut down before game.

Now...as for the "these kids aren't playing because they have NIL offers" group, think it through for a few minutes. Do you think they are sitting out because they have an offer already...despite the clear injury correlation week to week? Maybe the thought is they have told coaches they are entering the portal so they don't want to get hurt further? Think it through.

Several of our best players already have NIL offers so we're just going to have to get used to that. But we likely aren't going to know portal additions until after the title game (which I believe we'll be a participant).

over the last several years, one constant theme from Vigen is that we do what is best for the player and the program. we are here to develop the man on and off the field. Vigen this year has emphasized that he is talking more and earlier with the players about the portal, their career, and the program. I remember a player in the portal who suited up in the playoffs and went on his way the next spring. We are going to lose players, we may have already lost some this fall. We are in the Best Possible position to reload and continue. He is staying for at least 4 more years and Building a Dynasty then moving to P5 (if he wants to play the portal NIL challenge).

As for Skatteboo though, not sure what he was paid in his first year at ASU coming from FCS, but they paid him $1 million this year in NIL. I think six figure deals for the elite FCS guys is becoming the norm. I think Scottre is an elite FCS guy.
