I can't imagine a worse job than Washington State given the situation that they are in. It would be extremely difficult to have a winning program there. MIght make more money but lots of misery I'm afraid.

Re: Next HC
I'm about 35% under market. There are qualitative factors and intangibles where I work now that keep me from looking for more money elsewhere. I know I could easily get a higher paying job somewhere else, but I'd kick myself going to someplace new that ended up being a sh**ty work culture, having no friends, and having to prove myself all over again. I'd feel the pay bump wouldn't have been worth what I left. For enough money, I'd suck it up. But it would have to be comfortably in the upper end of the range.
So, if Vigen was in my shoes the $665k he is poised to earn this year is 65% of $1.023 million. If he's looking at it like me, that $1.023 million is getting close to the tipping point where even if it was a dogsh** job the money would be worth it. And that's still assuming WSU doesn't go tits up, which at this point looks like it could happen.

I thought the WSU job was North of that with incentives but I could be wrong.Cledus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 5:56 pmI'm about 35% under market. Way, way north of that. Dickert made $2.5 million this past season.catatac wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:19 pmI thought the WSU job was North of that with incentives but I could be wrong.Cledus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 5:56 pmI'm about 35% under market. Re: Next HC
I think Daly is the best candidate.
Bringing in an outside hire is tough, because you want continuity. I realize that Vigen was an outside hire, but we want to continue what he’s built here, and Daly offers the best mix of understanding MSU and Vigen’s system. He’s the only one who has seen it all. I’d much prefer him over Ioane. Only other coach on the current staff I would consider is Al Johnson.
Also, if Daly doesn’t get the job, what’s his incentive to stay here? Unless he really doesn’t want to be a HC, he’s the best candidate.

There’s been quite a noticeable improvement on the defensive side of the ball this year, and I would think with a second year it would get even better.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:51 pmI think Daly is the best candidate.

Yep those are the 2 guys, I think. Hoping this convo can be tabled until next winter but nice to know there are a couple guys on staff that could potentially step up.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:51 pmI think Daly is the best candidate.

their was a 10% cut in May. from spokesman last week:
The football program’s budget has been trimmed recently. Coaches took pay cuts. More cuts were on the way for 2025 – cuts that will also occur on other parts of campus
and look what the did to basketball

Agreed. I just don’t want the kids to bag it mentally cuz the coach bails. This entire situation is enough to piss off a good humored man.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 8:24 pmWhether it happens this year or next, it’s going to happen at some point.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 8:03 pmYep those are the 2 guys, I think. For Fu** sakes people chill the hell out. I’ll eat crow if need be… I do not see Vigen leaving this year…I’ve listened to him and his wife talk more than once….Im just reading them the opposite. Some dip sh** Gris fan posted that on Reddit.. it’s comparable to the National Enquirer in my opinion

Why do you think some tool posted that in the first place…. For the reason you stated. If we quit talking about it, it will quite down.94VegasCat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 8:35 pmAgreed.
