Crazy questions for Bobcat fans...
What is the population of Bozeman today, and what will it be on the day of your championship game?
Also, will any of you be crazy (dedicated) enough to make the long trip by car?
How about by horse?
If driving, will you pick up any NDSU hitchhikers that you feel sorry for along the way? If so, what are the odds that they make it more than ten miles in there before you kick them back out?
Oh...in case I forget, GO BOBCATS!

Re: Crazy questions for Bobcat fans...

I'm driving from Lewistown, 2 1/2 hrs from Bozeman.
Our trip to Frisco includes staying overnight in southern Wyoming with family. After the game we go on near Houston to spend a couple days with more family.
I have made this same trip a couple times before to go hog hunting.

Horses lol. We drove through a small MT town and there was a mounted rider at a crosswalk in the middle of town, and our teenage kid got on my case for not stopping. I argued that while on the mount that was a vehicle similar to a motorcycle and I didn't need to stop. My kid said it was a pedestrian and I should have stopped. Still no agreement on this.
Anyway, thanks as always for stopping by this place. I'll be there by plane. Should be a blast. PM me if you want to suddenly show up and cheer for the Cats.

Re: Crazy questions for Bobcat fans...
Your are correct Cats2506, We are from Bigfork and flying out of Kalispell Friday on the red eye. The Charter flights fly out of GFalls, Billings and Bozeman. GFalls and Bozeman are a 4-4.5 hr drive for us so it wasn’t an option. We have made every home game this year and was glad we did and we drove to Bozeman to hope a charter to USD. But if there’s another option for close to the same dollars I’m all in… I know quite a few fans flying out of Kalispell or Missoula.cats2506 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 8:16 pmA large number of Cat fans do not live in Bozeman, we come from all over the state.

Oh, I would be there in a second if I could. Thanks for your kind offer. I will be ordering my Bobcat gear on Monday, to wear in front of the TV on gameday! First time in my life without Lobo gear on!ClowderUp wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 8:30 pmHorses lol. Wow. I am seriously impressed! He needs to mount a heavy-duty cow catcher to the front of his vehicle, like the ones that old locomotives had to use.RockyBearCat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 8:45 pmA buddy of mine is driving from Scobey MT! 1469 miles!!!

We drove from Big Sandy the last time. Got shut down in Wyoming because of closed roads. Made it into Nebraska the next day and drove 2 lane roads all the way to Texas. Did 3500 miles in 7 days. Made a vacation of it. Stopped in Dodge City and Deadwood on the way back.

Sounds like a true adventure. Two-land roads for that long would probably push me over the edge. Reminds me of a quote from Gene Hackman in the great movie "Unforgiven."HiLineCat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 9:17 pmWe drove from Big Sandy the last time. "I woke up the next morning and thought I was in Hell. Turns out, I was only in Nebraska".
A question up above asked why I mentioned the "cow catchers"? That is to catch any wayward (and probably drunk) Bison fans who might get in the way and cause your car damage.

Yeah, I drive a few hours to every home game and so do all my relatives, friends, and everyone that sits near my season ticket area. During the first game against Idaho this year, there was a story about a bunch of MSU fans that drove 500 miles, one way, to every home game. I don’t know the breakdown of fans from Bozeman versus fans from outside of Bozeman that attend games, but I’d wager over 40% are from out of town.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

In an interesting ironic twist, the best option I could find that worked for mine and my brother's schedules ( and finances, hah!) was to fly from Billings to Albuquerque rent a car, and then drive over to Frisco. Then drive back to Albuquerque to fly back to Billings. Long term forecast looks fine across NM and North Texas, hoping it holds!
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Re: Crazy questions for Bobcat fans...
I totally believe that. With the sheer number of your fans that flooded my New Mexico website in October for our game, I was overwhelmed and making Bobcat avatars just as fast as I could! And the number of your fans that came from outside the state of Montana just blew my mind. Sure wish that you guys were in our conference as I love interacting with your fans.AFCAT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 10:37 pmYeah, I drive a few hours to every home game and so do all my relatives, friends, and everyone that sits near my season ticket area. Quite honestly, the best fans that I have ever seen in that realm.

From everything that I can see on the local weather right now, it should hold my friend. By the way, I am on the eastern side of New Mexico and twenty miles from the border with Texas. Don't hold it against me!grizzh8r wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:07 pmIn an interesting ironic twist, the best option I could find that worked for mine and my brother's schedules ( and finances, hah!) was to fly from Billings to Albuquerque rent a car, and then drive over to Frisco. Hoping the roads aren’t too bad from Billings to Denver. We’re driving down there because tickets from Denver to Dallas were pretty damn cheap, couldn’t even come close to making it work for a similar cost out of Billings or Bozeman.
Our flights ended up being about $500 total for two of us for Denver to Dallas and Dallas back to Denver. Throw in a couple hundred in gas to get to Denver and back and our total transportation cost should be right around $700 for two to make this trip.
