Re: Vigen inks new four year contract
I just hope there is some pay increases for the coaches on staff. I think if we can keep this group of coaches as long as we can, the better our chances of going to Nashville two years in a row.
Punters are people too!!

Well, Grace Lawrence has the contract already and I've got a calculator. So with our powers combined...

Re: Vigen inks new four year contract
Encouraging to see a real bump in the base pay. IIRC Vigen's real base pay was something on the order of $450K (meaning his base salary plus money from other things like his coaches shows that he was pretty much guaranteed to get) So he got an at least 80K bump on that which is obviously still far less than he'd make in FBS, but still significant.
Let's hope assistant coaches got a similar bump that will make it harder for FBS teams to poach them.

Not enough to scare anyone away from poaching. But in all seriousness, I give Vigen one more year before he's offered a job he can't refuse.

Re: Vigen inks new four year contract
I disagree. $450k is absolutely nothing to a school like Wazzu (who is apparently struggling financially). Honestly, all this contract does is set up MSU to get a little more money when Vigen leaves. This does nothing to keep him in Bozeman.

It's too bad the buyout drops on 12/1 and not 12/31. I don't think he's here on 12/30/2025.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:30 amNot enough to scare anyone away from poaching. But in all seriousness, I give Vigen one more year before he's offered a job he can't refuse.

No, for sure he's totally gone.CodyCat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:33 amI disagree. $450k is absolutely nothing to a school like Wazzu (who is apparently struggling financially). Re: Vigen inks new four year contract
That’s my thought. Overall, I’m glad the deal got done and MSU has something in place for a sizable buyout when the inevitable happens.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:30 amNot enough to scare anyone away from poaching. The way I see it is we have Vigen for 1, maybe 2 more seasons before he gets his shot in the FBS at a good school. I’d love to be wrong, but I don’t see a way that he is here for the whole 4 years of this new contract.

I really like the core assistant group we have this year too. Wished we could come up with some extra dollars to retain them as well as Coach Vigen. Any budding Phil Knights in the crowd that wants to build a Bobcat dynasty???

I love it but it is still a far cry form the $1.5M I heard WSU is paying!

I guess living in the beautiful Gallatin Valley, working for a thriving university, and coaching your two sons is worth more than a lot more money. My hats off to Coach Vigen. Great to see a man of his character leading our team!

If I had $8mil to spare, it would go to the new East Grandstand fund.

Re: Vigen inks new four year contract
Yep. Someone posted in another thread that Vigen stands to make close to $750K this year with base and all the incentives. I don't know if that includes media $$ or anything else not covered by MSU? So with this raise, is there a chance he could get close to $1,000,000?
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

That paint job will hold up for at least another 5 years, give it to the coaches!AFCAT wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 12:12 pmIf I had $8mil to spare, it would go to the new East Grandstand fund.
