Today's Interviews?
Is there a way to watch live, or do we just need to wait until someone posts a link this afternoon as normally happens? I don't do the X Twit thing.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

What was with the weird hot mic "thats stupid" comment??? The look on Vigens face was the look I get when my teenagers start talking at the dinner table about skibidi ohio rizz sigma.

I think everyone was like "is that my computer? What is that? Did we leave "Curb Your Enthusiasm" playing in another tab? Who's computer is that?!?!?!"

Nice interview on YouTube by Colter Nuanez of former coach, Rob Ash regarding the 2024 Cats and college football in general. ‘Road to Frisco 2024 Former Montana State Coach Rob Ash on College Football & FCS Title Game’ Sorry I’m unable to post.

Re: Today's Interviews?
Anybody pick up on Tommy’s comment about Cole Sain leaving the Griz? Reminded me of what he said last year that “we have it so much better than they do,” and also the anonymous quote from one of our coaches about Adam Jones’ visit with them.

Man, I really enjoyed that. I always liked Rob Ash, he deserves a ton of credit for laying the foundation. Interesting to hear that he has only been back once. I think enough time has passed that it would be cool to welcome him back to bobcat nation with open arms. Always a well spoken guy. I salute you coach Ash!

Re: Today's Interviews?
Overall, great interview. At times, maybe I was reading into it too much, but I did get a sense of bitterness from him. Not towards the team or current staff, but against possibly the administration at the university during his time here.Bocephus wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:16 pmMan, I really enjoyed that. We can all go back and forth about his time here. Overall, he had a large task at hand and did a great job of laying a foundation for our teams of today. He often is remembered, common to most of history, of his last few years, which I don’t think has always been a fair analysis, yet, it takes two to two tango and he had his faults or perhaps even loyalties as well.
He seems to be in a great place now, and he seems to enjoy being in quasi motivational speaking rolls so I think this sales position with his included services is a great fit. Time definitely heals and I think he does deserves more credit here and there.

I can promise you that when the time is right, he will get inducted into the Montana State athletics Hall of Fame. And he deserves it.Bocephus wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:16 pmMan, I really enjoyed that. I always liked Rob Ash, he deserves a ton of credit for laying the foundation. It was great catching up with Rob. It was bizarre to have a front row seat to see that 2015 season and how it all just kind of fell apart, but up to that point, he was top notch to work with. No coach I've ever worked with in football would let me come sit in his office for an hour plus and just talk ball. He knows SO MUCH about football, it's actually pretty astonishing.
The access his program provided was second to none and covering three straight championship seasons when I worked at the Chronicle definitely helped set the stage for what we've build over the last 12 years since I left the paper. I really appreciated hearing from him again.

Re: Today's Interviews?
Being an athlete during his time at MSU, he definitely was the face of the athletics department. He seemed to wear many hats, to not only include head football coach but a liaison/champion for academic success of all student-athletes. Amongst my friend group of athletes, we always thought he was priming himself for an AD position. I can still remember his 3-legged stool speech he’d give every August to all student-athletes.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:51 pmI can promise you that when the time is right, he will get inducted into the Montana State athletics Hall of Fame. All spot on. Worked with the film crew during his time at MSU and he was always open to chat. Really wanted every single person under him to succeed.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:51 pmI can promise you that when the time is right, he will get inducted into the Montana State athletics Hall of Fame. He just loved football and people.
I would echo the sentiment about his "access." I could hop into his office and chat with him. Chat with his assistants. It was a privilege.
Coach Ash really set the stage for where we are now.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Re: Today's Interviews?
Maybe he should have spent less time chatting with reporters and film crew and more time evaluating his defensive coordinator.
Don't get me wrong, I think Ash was a good man and the right man for the time, he cleaned up the program and elevated it to league championships. Then he kind of reached a plateau and wasn't able to go any higher, when the defense started to regress he couldn't get over his own loyalty to a friend to fix the problem.

I think you can both appreciate what Ash did and acknowledge what he failed to do.

Yep. Coach Ash did an amazing job at MSU and helped build the program to where it is today. But as with many coaches who stay at the same school for a decade or so, at some point there comes a time that a change just needs to be made for the benefit of all involved.RootinfortheCats wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:48 amI think you can both appreciate what Ash did and acknowledge what he failed to do.

Re: Today's Interviews?
I haven’t watched all of the interview so I can’t speak to Coach Ash’s tone but I know he doesn’t speak highly of the Bobcats still. I’m sure many of us would hold a grudge against an entity that fired you after years of success and all he did for the program to get it back on track. I don’t hold it against him he was vital to the process but he was never going to get the program to where it is today and the athletic department saw that and made the decision that was best to continue moving forward.SparkCat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:48 pmOverall, great interview. He came into a really tumultuous situation and added some much needed stability and integrity....and won quite a few games while doing so. Also, MSU head football coach wasn't seen as a great job back then. He was the right guy at the right time. As was Choate as is Vigen.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:52 amYep. I would say that Hysell and Kramer were key components for their time in building what we have today.wbtfg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 10:01 amHe came into a really tumultuous situation and added some much needed stability and integrity....and won quite a few games while doing so. He was instrumental in the progression to where we are today. The fact that the administration took a year too long to fire him doesn't take away from his positive contributions to the program.cats2506 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 10:06 amI would say that Hysell and Kramer were key components for their time in building what we have today.wbtfg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 10:01 amHe came into a really tumultuous situation and added some much needed stability and integrity....and won quite a few games while doing so.
