Be Smart - Use UBER in Frisco

Post by RockyBearCat » Mon Dec 30, 2024 1:14 pm

Just a plea to all to use UBER or LYFT in Frisco. Drinking and driving can have deadly consequences. Even if you don't get in or cause a wreck, be familiar with Texas law. https://www.txdot.gov/safety/driving-la ... iving.html

We stayed in Plano last time and Ubered everywhere. To and from the airport, to the game, then to restaurants and bars in the Frisco/Plano area. Ubers were plentiful and cheap, and saved our group a ton of money over renting a car. And if we did rent, we still would have had to Uber a time or two (or more) after over-indulging. It's smart to do any time, and it's considerably easier to do there than most places in MT. Get familiar with the app, make sure your CC information is up-to-date, and use the heck out of it.

Ya, agree. I use the hell out of UBER almost everywhere I go. Super easy, reasonably cheap even when it doesn't seem like it when you see a $15 ride for a few blocks, but just not having to mess around with getting a rental car, parking, gas, etc..... I love it.

I sent this to a buddy earlier today.

According to current Uber information, an Uber from DFW Airport to Frisco, Texas would cost around $48 for an UberX ride, with the average travel time being around 27 minutes.

Dallas area isn’t exactly pedestrian friendly, so Ubering everywhere will add up. By all means, if you’re drinking, UBER, please. But I’d still say have a car so you can go around and do other stuff, depending how long you’re there.

We got a rental for Sunday mid morning until early Tuesday morning for $72.

We’ll still uber to and from the game just so we can have some fun and not worry about it, but I think a rental car for $72 is more than worth it, you’d spend that much getting to and from the airport in an Uber, let alone doing any other side trips while you’re there.

I did a rental car in 2021, I ended up with a ford mustang 302 Boss H, it was a pretty sweet upgrade. That said I really didn't drive all that much except to the stadium. Most of the partying i did was with NDSU fans in our hotel, they're an alright bunch!

We're doing rental car. $128 for 4 days; waaaaay cheaper than all the Uber trips we would be scheduling. No drinking involved, so we're good there. Hotel is walking distance to stadium so will park at the hotel and walk over.

I think my son and I split about $200 on UBER in 2021. We didn't rent a car and used it to run around the Frisco area. We didn't go into Dallas or the stockyards. We investigated and decided the price was prohibitive. Still, it was nice to not worry about a car and have our adult beverages, guilt free. :D

I'll probably stick with my rental, its just under 200 total, that way got freedom to do what I want. I'm not drinker so no worries there, my tailgate is mountain dew and Dr pepper(cant do alcohol for medical reasons)

I've never used Uber and I have transportation set up to the game, but I went ahead and downloaded the Uber app for next week. I want to go down and see Dealey plaza and it's only about ten miles from my hotel. I have no idea how to use Uber, so this will be interesting.

It's actually pretty easy to use, with very little room to mess anything up, although I've managed once or twice, but just due to my own stupidity in not double checkign addresses, etc. :) As long as you have the app downloaded and installed, and your credit card attached to it, just open the app when you're ready to order a ride. Then it will ask you where you want to go, and you can either type in the business name or address but just make sure this is correct. Then it will find your location via GPS (But once in a great while it won't pick up from that exact location so you'll have to walk a little ways, but again this is rare). But you'll be able to see where you are on the map, and where your UBER driver is once ordered. It will tell you about how much it's going to cost and about how far the driver is away. Then once you confirm it will calculate and tell you... driver is 3 minutes away, or 10 minutes away or whatever. Usually in urban areas it's not long at all. Then it will tell you the color, make, model of vehicle, and the driver name. Then just wait until they pull up (They can see where you're at via GPS just like you can track their vehicle). Make sure you confirm the driver's name, and then just hop in (probably the back seat). Then once you arrive, just get out and you're all done. Don't try to give them a cash tip, the app will prompt you to rate the ride and tip them if you want.

What’s a normal tip? 20% or just $5 or something else? I’m usually a good tipper, but that’s for restaurants, bars, or other service industry stuff.

Once the ride is over, when you open up the Uber app you'll get a prompt with three suggested tip amounts that are usually between 10 - 30% of the cost of the ride. For example, I took a $16 ride today and the suggested tips were $1, $3, and $5. I generally pick the middle of the three if the ride was good (clean car, polite driver, etc). Not sure if there's a standard tip percentage for rideshares like there is for restaurants, maybe others will have some insight. You can also manually enter a tip amount if you want to use a different amount than the suggested tips.

Listen to the resident Texan.. use uber. I hate the dfw area. The highways are super confusing and the exits come quick and we drive fast... like really fast and aggressive. Everything in every metro area is about 30-45min no matter how far or close it is, lol. We don't judge a trip by miles we judge by time lol. The police are butts down here when they know there is a big event and they will be lurking waiting and looking for a reason to get you. Frisco is one of the well to-do areas of dfw, they will be looking for a reason to pull you over. The people are great here.

Rules of the rd if you drive.... everyone drives at least 5 miles over the posted speed limit, sometimes ten. In the highway no matter what the posted speed limit is we drive 70 minimum. STAY OUTTA THE LEFT LANE, that's for Nascar drivers lolol. It's 50/50 if we use s blinker, so always be aware of an unannounced lane change. We tow like n no body's business, please make sure you park where you're supposed to because they will take your rental QUICK. Check your route before you leave so you have an idea of where your turns are because we are impatient with folks who don't know where they're going, lol.

We open doors say please and thank you yes sir and yes ma'am. I hope everyone who comes truly enjoys my state and please be safe!!!
