I don’t even know if winning the Natty would have kept some of these guys here. The outside financial influence seems to be more worth than trophies, awards and stats.

No offense, but duh. You’d be dumb to not take the money.

NIL is absolutely ruining college football.

FCS is just an FBS farm system. Coaches don’t even need to be coaches anymore, just go poach someone else’s guy that they put zero work into.

Agreed, the only difference is that they would have had a ring to go along with the stacks of new cash they’re getting.

Derrick Henry would be a great addition to the team for next year, but I assume we're referring to Unterrio Latin-Henley here.

I think jerry Seinfeld’s “Jersey name” routine needs to be factored into this thinking.

Comparing NIL in college sports to baseball farm systems doesn’t work. Lots of farm teams are immensely popular all around the country and most of have over 50% turnover yearly.

Is it ruining college sports? Or is it ruining what you think college sports should look like? I don’t like how far NIL and the portal has gone, but I don’t think either has ruined the sport.

There’s not a university out there that isn’t getting “poached”.

Per my source, Davis is most likely entering the portal.

That would be a bummer. Although, playing injured the last two years, it’s surprising if he can get it any better than here.

Are we graduating athletes that have marketable skills and knowledge beyond football? Yes, but not as much as we used to.

I’ll add this to the discussion: other sports aren’t getting the same NIL attention that football is. Yes, football makes big money for the universities. But track and field athletes (just one example anmong many) aren’t getting &@$* and I do think that’s wrong.

NIL is negatively impacting women’s athletics, and we aren’t talking about that at all.

When will NIL Boosters run out of money, they aren't getting a penny back. Just paying to watch their team get better. At least there is an ROI in the NFL.
It all comes down to a booster's net worth—$10,000,000 a year might be insignificant to someone worth over $1 billion. Consider how many homes in the Yellowstone Club are occupied for less than a month each year.

I think men's basketball is taking a beating worse than football.

How much of the transferring out is not based on $$ at all, but the "Tommy Effect" as in, he's leaving and there's a big question mark as to who will replace him? He was such a phenomenal leader that so many looked up to and wanted to play with/for. With losing him, along with coaches Walker and Johnson, potentially, is there uncertainty among the team?

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. You wouldn’t expect an injured player recovering from major surgery to get a ton of money. But then again, who knows?

I did wonder how much that would play into some of it.
