This one pisses me off.
Is this where his head was as Tommy’s passes were evading his hands?

I feel bad for not knowing this, but did Walchli actually play? Maybe 2s and 3s?
Played some special teams but not all units.
Thanks! So a justifiable transfer to get more playtime.

Hope everyone increases their monthly donation to the collective.
Why can't keep the top ones anyways.
The collective isn't about keeping players. It's about rewarding the ones that are here and brining in great players. Some will leave, some will stay that is a fact. Kids at p4 schools that have made millions leave and go to other places, so there really isn't any amount of money that we can say will keep a player. Again it is about supporting the current players and that are playing and representing the montana st community with pride.....I was put on to this by one of the posters here and I really liked their take on the collective.
Your point about the p4 players already getti.g paid and still transferring is the problem with NIL and transfer rules.. people who support it said they should go get theirs. They already have and it isn't enough. Why are those players moving in.
Various reason....it isn't all about money...I keep saying that. As fans it is the easiest thing for us to go to because we don't understand the whole dynamics of playing at a school. When you are recruited you see the best of everyone and everything....you get there and sometimes that stuff changes, BIG TIME. Now am I saying that is what happens at MSU? no, I am not. I can say that the few kids that I have talked to that are at MSU are happy there and it is as it was advertised to them. Other schools not so much. Quinn Ewers graduated early(a farce at best) to get a 1mil pay dat at osu, he was behind stroud and wasn't going to play, so he left to UT. Got another pay day and the word is being floated that he is either going pro or he is transferring because it was made very clear to him that manning is the guy next year. I'm just telling you that it isn't about chasing money for every kid. Is money involved and does that factor in? yes it does but it isn't the root of it all. It's about opportunity to showcase your talent in the best situation possible so you view the landscape find what you think is best then you factor in who wants you most based off what they will give you...you know kinda of like a job...because you know playing college football is JUST like a job.
It is not just like a job, at all. It's a sport, a game. If it were these guys playing on TV helping their institutions make millions, and the NCAA billions, they'd be signing NDAs and non competes. Wouldn't be able to jump ship to the next job (team) without being in breach of contract and liable for lots of monies. There's a reason contracts exist in proefessional sports. DI is now professional sports.

****** me. Whole offense will be gutted for next year.
Nah...i disagree....we have recruited well and have talented guys that will step in...only person i see whose talent won't be replaced is tommy...everyone else has an equally talented player that will step in and can give us what the person that is leaving gave us....jmo
We lost 3 all Americans on offense to the portal this week. Doubtful we have 3 more all Americans sitting there waiting to step right into their shoes.
I'm not the pollyanna type - these are big losses.
Titan Fleischmann. Dylan Rollins. Adam Jones. There's your All-Americans. Wouldn't be totally shocked if JT Reed becomes one, I think he makes a noticeable difference when he's on the field.

This year the Bobcats were rotating a guy who had been 3rd team All-Conference (JT Reed) with a guy who will be a 3 year starter (Burke Mastel) because there's just nowhere to put 'em. It's almost impossible to oversell the job MSU has done recruiting and developing the offensive line. They are loaded.

This thread has also sold me on Luvens Valcin being a dude at H/Flex TE. Rohan Jones was great, but he's not the only guy in the world who can jump high, run fast, and block.

Wish the kid luck! He played a bit of special teams. Long ways from breaking the lineup and wouldn’t have had he returned. Hope he gets an opportunity to play and really contribute somewhere.

If players want to leave, than so be it. Two tears in a bucket. Fu.ck it. Take it to the sage. I'm still pissed Prukop left to play for the Nike Ducks. Totally different deal with these players. I really don't care how they do at their next stop. I just don't care. Pack your stuff and leave. If you come back, wear you last teams gear. Not MSU's. You're no different than a Ex. Don't want to hear from you. Don't want to see ya. Stay away. SEEEEEE YAAAAA!

Holy crap, you put a lot of words in my mouth. Yes, I played college athletics, though that's not relevant. But dont worry, we know you did!

When did I say a school should own the players, or should keep them for as long as they want? I didn't. You compared it to a job, I told you why it's not, which is a fact. My entire point is that in a professional sport where players are paid (doesn't matter if the school is paying or the collective, NIL fund, whatever is paying) there needs to be rules and regulations. If a school wants to extend a 1 year offer, then fine, that's the offer and the length of the contract if the player accepts. Players can re-sign, or not once the contract us up. If they want it to be 2, 3, 4, 5 then the player can negotiate or decline. The free for all with no oversight is a problem.

Also, people calling them kids is getting old. They're young adults, let's not act like they don't have brains and can't make their own decisions, especially with their support system's help.

yes you know that I did...and now we know that you did as well.....i compare it to a job because of what athletes put in and the hours they work. they aren't just playing a game. there's a TON of work that goes into it just like a job. all that you just wrote you didn't say...you cleaned up your take on this thread. Had you presented this I actually would have agreed with you as I do feel that the transferring is out of hand and hurts the athletes more than it really helps them.

you said " If it were these guys playing on TV helping their institutions make millions, and the NCAA billions," um they ARE playing on TV, they are making their school millions and the ncaa billions. that's not me putting words in your mouth YOU said it like they aren't ACTUALLY doing that, when they ARE in fact doing that.

you obviously have no clue out NILs work...when there are millions of dollars being thrown around there are contracts for how you are to get the money. They don't just lump sum them the money it's paid out over time in most cases and if a kid, yes I say kid because i'm 46y/o, my 21 y/o is a kid as well leaves they don't get the rest of the money. you said "Wouldn't be able to jump ship to the next job (team) without being in breach of contract and liable for lots of monies." people leave jobs ALL the time and leave money on the table. People get paid signing bonuses then get a better offer and they are well within their rights to do walk away. you are making a lot of assumptions about NIL and you really don't know what you're talking about.

Yes they have minds of their own and it is documented that the male brain isn't fully developed until after 25, later in some cases. While they may not be little kids, they are still kids and make child like decisions sometimes absent of their parents....and some get really bad advice from their parents/circle of people. everyone doesn't have a great circle around them to advise them into doing the best thing. many of these kids don't come from much and when their parents see 500K, they see a pay day for their kid but also a pay day for themselves. some kids make informed decisions some don't...you are painting every single athlete as some money hungry only chasing the dollar sign person....that isn't the truth in all situations and to just assume that is wrong.

It'll be interesting to see how Scottre fairs in the Big Ten. Big pay day though.
I don't know, it seems to me that he went down several times in the NDSU game on just an arm tackle. A big strong RB should be able to run through an arm stuck out in front of him most of the time. It will be tougher to break tackles in the Big Ten.

After some reflection I think we should be happy we are even getting this talent into our program. Shows off how damn good our recruiting is and should continue to be. Not too hard to look around the BSC (especially over the hill) and see how different the talent level is compared to us. Now if we can win some nattys we can finally become dominant but thats going to be a tall task with NDSU.

How do you feel about Jeff Choate?
Good point. Coaches have always been hired guns, "using" (someone else's word, not mine) schools to try to get a better job. Now we're going to hate on players who put in work for us because they get a chance to move up in life? I'm not going to. I'm glad we had those 3 this year, we probably don't go on the run we went on without all 3. I hope they all do well and I hope their success helps us get more premium talent in here in the future.

So they have 5 days after the NC to portal? Is that correct? But coaches can recruit out of the portal anytime now? Still trying to figure out how this all works.
Ready to hear about new guys coming in, if there are some.

Yes the players on the teams in the NC get an additional 5 days, so end of day Saturday I think?

Next big date would be start of semester, need to get guys coming in enrolled and in class so they can participate in spring ball. I'm not sure how the "recruiting" timelines work, if they have blackouts like they do with high school kids, but with NIL Collectives and Agents I'm assuming that once a player enters the portal (or in many cases before) they are fair game until they sign/enroll somewhere.

I feel much the same way about Choate as I do about Rohan.

Sudden, unexpected. But I guess I’m one of those fans that has “traditional” views about people leaving……

There will be some and I think we'll be quite happy when we hear who they are. Patience is difficult especially when everyone is desperate for any good news after how the week has gone so far!

Yup. Right or wrong, this is how I feel as well.

There were a couple times the last year or two I saw some of the recent transfer guys at a cat football game (guys who were still active with their new team, watching the cat team that they left)….

Honestly my immediate reaction/feeling was- why are you here?

It would be interesting to hear from some of them. For instance, Ifanse went to Cal thinking he'd be the primary, but they also got Ott, and Ifanse didn't play all that much. I'd also be curious how much money he was promised vs. how much he actually received. Also, what advice would he give to a younger player in his situation.

For guys like Connor Moore, who looks like he will head to a Big 10 school and potentially start/play/go to the NFL, the outlook is much different than someone like Rohan Jones, who is very talented but would probably struggle to find playing time at a P4 school, and will end up going somewhere in the G5 to play for a year and likely get a fraction of the NIL money that was dangled in front of him to get him to transfer out.
