Yeah I understand that. If they’re employees of the university, their compensation should be made public information. And I think somewhere that’s probably a legal proceeding that will be pursued.
Any time public money is involved in anything, then it has to be made public. That's a certainty. I'm not sure if that applies to funds that flow into a public entity, but I'm pretty it does. For instance, if a state office puts funds into a program and then someone else (Private) puts money into that program, then those monies are open to the same public access as the public monies. So, I think (not sure) that if athletes at a public institution like a public university receive money for playing a sport, then it should be public. Perhaps, it has been set up in a way that keeps everything separate. That doesn't seem proper to me.
Anyway, my point is to create fairness. For instance, if I bid on a project and I don't get the bid, I want to know what the other companies bid, so that I know what I'm up against. I need to know where I'm over bidding in order to fix that area and become competitive. This isn't just good for me, but also the entity putting the job out to bid.
Not gonna name specific guys but it's not hard to look at the list of starters and find guys who haven't really done ads or promos but who are certainly getting money.
It's pay for play.

What is your source? There is virtually no way NDSU is paying anything close to $200,000 each. Less than 1% chance any FCS NIL is paying anything close to $50,000 for any player.jaquelethargic wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:33 pmThis is all heresy but what I’ve heard from folks… Starting line for NDSU gets 200k/yr each, so in the grand scheme of things, Rohan getting 300-500k isn’t shocking but also depending on him making the roster and depth chart. Crazy times, but the economist in me says zero chance. Look at our team. Tommy clearly was the top marketing option on the number one team in FCS with a rabid fan base. If we are able to hand out $50,000 per year in NIL, do you really think we are giving 10% to one guy? Many of our assistants don’t make $50,000. We couldn’t raise enough money to fund cost of living stipend when that was a thing.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:04 amAgree on the 1st, disagree on the 2nd.Cataholic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:03 amWhat is your source? Yeah, some of these numbers are pretty hard to believe. Actual data is pretty scarce, but this was a decent read.Cataholic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:03 amWhat is your source? Yes, but all of these are P4 numbers. No way a G5 or FCS school can approach these levels.onceacat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:14 amYeah, some of these numbers are pretty hard to believe. I have a hard time thinking Moore is going to get seven figures. Ohio States team this year is 22 Mil in NIL. Why would one player outside of a QB get 1/22 of that?
Hating the griz since 02.

I heard it was 500k. Sam Herder said it was 250k about a week before the natty. None of us truly know the exact amount.
Either way, a left tackle is a very important position.

Sort of my point. Theres at least an order of magnitude difference from P4 to FCS, maybe more. If the top handful of linemen in P4 are making around $1m, it's hard to fathom any FCS linemen at $100k, let alone an entire line at double that.Cataholic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:21 amYes, but all of these are P4 numbers. Just read an article about Boise State. Their entire NIL budget is $2 million this year, up from $1.6 last year. No way NDSU is on par with them--or even close.onceacat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:09 amSort of my point. Theres at least an order of magnitude difference from P4 to FCS, maybe more. Why is that surprising? Isn't he just a sophomore? I guess with Miller leaving he could have bailed but I'm sure he's all about getting another trophy next year. Winning is contagious.
