Love the recent posts from Dru and JT that they are coming back. With the recent guys leaving, some players needed to emerge as the new leaders.

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
I’m still surprised by some of these offers guys are getting. Ole Miss, UNC, Arkansas, UCLA….I get that money plays a roll, but I struggle to think that any one of them (except Moore) will go have a Cam Skattebo type experience.
Punters are people too!!

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
You mean none of them might be one of the top offensive players in the nation for a team?
That’s a stunning revelation. Thank you for it!

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
I would say they're transferring for the money more than the exposure/experience in most cases, like 90%. They're well aware that you can get to the NFL via MSU and they know teams like NDSU, SDSU have gotten a multitude of players into the NFL.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:21 amYou mean none of them might be one of the top offensive players in the nation for a team?

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I'm liking this new trend today. Posts about staying. So needed! So grateful! This is Paul Brott. Maybe a team meeting was held about doing this?

A lot more scholarships for the FBS this year helps too. They can offer more players and if they have some NIL cash to spend, it's all golden for them. Doesn't really matter a whole lot if they hit on all the players.

Bobcat athletics is business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as business too.

I've always liked Eiden IV. He doesn't do things to draw attention to himself. Just puts his head down and plays hard. Might've been MSU's most effective defensive player over the last 5-6 games. Played big in big games.nanacat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:35 amEiden. Graphics department got after it! Love it!!

You can already see a big change between last year's team and 2025 version. Mellott (Butte, America) and Grebe (Melstone Cowboy) were such stars and got sooooo much media attention. Looking like this will be a blue collar, lunch bucket team.

I was wondering if the FCS will get an increase in scholarships sometime in the near future. FBS gets the big increase but nothing for the FCS.

That works too! As long as they continue the love and support of each other, and are motivated by the unfinished business, watch out!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:49 amI've always liked Eiden IV. Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
I kind of doubt it. The FBS can increase scholarships because they have so much tv money. Almost all FCS teams struggle with funding, and that's with almost all of their funding coming from the school's general fund. More scholarships isn't going to be a winning argument when teams already lose a ton of money and players can get "outside" income.

If it's up to the conferences, as it sounds like it will be, it will be interesting to see if at some point this drives more conference re-alignment at the FCS level.coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 12:03 pmI kind of doubt it. Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
Well, not all FBS schools will be able to fund the complete 105 scholarships. Why not increase the FCS scholarships and then let the schools decide what they can afford to fund? I wonder about these numbers of scholarships anyway. Why is the number set at 63 for FCS? Seems kind of arbitrary.coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 12:03 pmI kind of doubt it. No doubt the money plays a role. We all know that. And yeah, MSU has sent some players to the league. We know that’s possible. But absolutely, 100%, if Moore plays as good at Ohio State as he did here, he’s getting drafted higher than he would’ve here. It’s not just about making it, it’s about where you get drafted. It’s just a simple fact that teams are going to prefer and trust players that have gotten it done at a higher level of play more than players at a lower level. AND, for somebody like Moore, he’s going to get to play so much closer to his family. I know it makes everybody feel better to think it’s all about money, but it isn’t all about money.

Cincinatti, probably.
Bowling Green or Miami Ohio, I think you could argue that draft stock wouldn't change much.
I think Moore is one of the cases where he is absolutely doing the right thing by transferring.
