I was wondering if the FCS will get an increase in scholarships sometime in the near future. FBS gets the big increase but nothing for the FCS.
I kind of doubt it. The FBS can increase scholarships because they have so much tv money. Almost all FCS teams struggle with funding, and that's with almost all of their funding coming from the school's general fund. More scholarships isn't going to be a winning argument when teams already lose a ton of money and players can get "outside" income.
Well, not all FBS schools will be able to fund the complete 105 scholarships. Why not increase the FCS scholarships and then let the schools decide what they can afford to fund? I wonder about these numbers of scholarships anyway. Why is the number set at 63 for FCS? Seems kind of arbitrary.
Who knows how they got to 63 but I think it's set at a number that was generally agreed upon as "affordable" to FCS teams. Since only a handful of teams are remotely self-sustaining the only thing raising the number would do is put pressure the other 100+ to drop back down to D2 or lower. It would make the FCS even more uncompetitive than it already is. If there was open entry to the FBS then the top teams would already be there, or be able to make their own decision on what they can afford, and this wouldn't be a discussion because the leftover teams would all be on a much more equal footing.
The FBS isn't designed to follow the collegiate spirit. It's a professional level tied to universities for tax and historical purposes. The FCS is still an NCAA organization that at least in theory is supposed to be about fair play (and not the "alls fair in love and war" type of fair play).
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I’m still surprised by some of these offers guys are getting. Ole Miss, UNC, Arkansas, UCLA….I get that money plays a roll, but I struggle to think that any one of them (except Moore) will go have a Cam Skattebo type experience.
You mean none of them might be one of the top offensive players in the nation for a team?
That’s a stunning revelation. Thank you for it!
I would say they're transferring for the money more than the exposure/experience in most cases, like 90%. They're well aware that you can get to the NFL via MSU and they know teams like NDSU, SDSU have gotten a multitude of players into the NFL.
I don’t buy that.
No doubt the money plays a role. We all know that. And yeah, MSU has sent some players to the league. We know that’s possible. But absolutely, 100%,
if Moore plays as good at Ohio State as he did here, he’s getting drafted higher than he would’ve here. It’s not just about making it, it’s about where you get drafted. It’s just a simple fact that teams are going to prefer and trust players that have gotten it done at a higher level of play more than players at a lower level. AND, for somebody like Moore, he’s going to get to play so much closer to his family. I know it makes everybody feel better to think it’s all about money, but it isn’t all about money.
Ohio State or Michigan, absolutely.
Cincinatti, probably.
Bowling Green or Miami Ohio, I think you could argue that draft stock wouldn't change much.
I think Moore is one of the cases where he is absolutely doing the right thing by transferring.
Who’s talking about BG and Miami (Ohio)? I know I wasn’t.

No one, just examples of the different types of transfers. If you are able to transfer to FBS Ohio State or Michigan and start, it will absolutely increase your draft stock. If you transfer to Miami (Ohio) for NIL money, I'm not sure it does anything for your draft stock.
Probably comparing what I think will happen with Moore vs. Rohan or Scottre more than anythign than the actual school they end up at.

Looks like they already have the 2025 theme ready to go.
Lots of teams use that when they come real close.

Rohan and Scottre have ACC, SEC, and Big 10/12 offers. They’re going to go to legitimately good schools. These guys aren’t leaving us to go to mid level P5 schools. They’re getting big offers.

I don't know, the FCS already has non-scholly programs competing and, obviously, programs with better facilities and more money. Heck, non-scholly Drake beat Eastern this past season. The affordability of 63 scholarships should change with the times, especially now that the FBS has increased or really, allowed teams to increase, if they can afford to.

I guess it depends on what you think of them and where they land. I personally think Moore has a chance to start and play at Ohio State/Michigan.
I suppose Rohan and Scottre could see some decent playing time at the bottom of the ACC/Big 12, but I doubt either is a number 1 option.
If the goal is the bag of NIL money, they will get it. If the goal is NFL opportunity, I'm not sure they are putting themselves in a better position, but we'll see where they land. I don't know that being RB2 or 3 or TE 2 or 3 at North Carolina would be better than a season mirroring or improving their 2024 stats at MSU. For their sake, I hope I'm wrong.
