Yeah, I want to see the breakdown on that spending. What are they counting? Obviously, that doesn’t include NIL. MSU doesn’t pay FCOA.mule wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:27 pmWell, according to the article I post here just recently Cats spend more money on their football program than Bison do. Perhaps now they do. But that hasn't been the case for very long. Like I said, I know they were paying Full cost of attendance years before the Cats were.mule wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:27 pmWell, according to the article I post here just recently Cats spend more money on their football program than Bison do. Re: Any Portal News Yet
The griz have signed 17 out of the portal not that Bobby has been successful with the portal. So with that and NDSU strengthening their team through the portal why has MSU sat on the sidelines? Is the portal picked over at this point?mule wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:16 pmLooking around at other opponents this year and I see where Bison didn't have one departure in the portal! Re: Any Portal News Yet
I wonder if Vigen avoided the portal to get his coaching staff aligned first? As a poster suggested on another thread, might be hard to recruit players without an OC, and an OL coach too I might add. Waiting until the spring portal may be his angle as he knows what he has in place now for players returning and recruited. Let those guys get their goals in place and rolling and then bring in some transfers in a couple of months.

There is no timeline for signing players out of the portal, just timelines for entering the portal. Really the big piece would be getting someone enrolled in time for spring classes if you wanted them to be part of spring ball. Other than that, there really isn’t a rush and you want to make sure you are bringing in the right pieces for the team.nanacat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 9:45 amI wonder if Vigen avoided the portal to get his coaching staff aligned first? Yes, that's right and I should have mentioned that aspect. Classes starts Tuesday, I think? But as another poster mentioned on the other thread, perhaps leaving things in place and not bringing anyone in now may be by design, to give the current players and recruits confidence their spot is secure for now and see how things shake out moving forward. I expect the Cats will pick up a few transfers, but Vigen does not live and die in the portal, as other coaches (Bobby) do, and that's a good thing. Developing players is a real strength for MSU and truly a better approach rather than picking up one year guys.snarf wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 11:30 amThere is no timeline for signing players out of the portal, just timelines for entering the portal. Many position groups getting decimated by the portal. Cats need serious help in the defensive backfield, at LB and WR. Portal help is needed.nanacat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 11:49 amYes, that's right and I should have mentioned that aspect. Classes starts Tuesday, I think? Re: Any Portal News Yet
My thoughts on NIL. If a team offers a player $500,000 or $5,000 to a player to leave a team and go play for the new team. The new team should have to pay the old team a like amount.
