Two choices, obsess over the players who are leaving or realize that nobody is irreplaceable, appreciate the players who are committed to the program, and trust the coaches to bring in and develop replacements who are just as good or better than those leaving. I know which option I'll pick.
The last 3 guys in the portal are definitely replaceable. Good riddance.
I would argue that Powdrell and Johnson will be the hardest transfers to replace.
Powdrell was so close to getting to be the hero. I wonder if that would’ve had any effect on his decision to transfer.?
Nonetheless, he was getting better every game, still not mistake free. Turning into a nice db

Agree. Hopefully some of our younger guys come out and kick some ass, enough ass, to make us never think of those that transfer away again.

Yep
Such a shame. Hope he finds his place.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

I wonder how many times he’s played that over in his head?

Jon Johnson in portal
Johnson won't find a better opportunity than MSU. IMO, with guys of this caliber leaving it is not about the brotherhood anymore but more about ego.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he got/gets some money. He’s very driven to play professionally. That was one of the things he said in one of his first interviews. He’s not increasing those chances. He struck me as someone that might be so obsessed that he would try anything and since he probably hasn’t turned any scouts heads is trying something else.
How can you definitively put yourself inside of whatever he’s thinking, and also if he’s helping or hurting himself? He made a decision that he feels is best for him, yet you’re saying it isn’t. That comes across as arrogance to me.
Definitively?
“He struck me as someone that might…”
Also: saying he isn’t increasing his chances to play professionally by jumping from MSU to another school is a common sentiment shared by a majority of people.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I don't think we play Idaho next year. Regardless he wants to go to a throwing offense. Alexander is a great run blocker but I think he wants the rock more. My take? He's a great run blocker...

Yeah, I figured that’s why he went in the portal in the first place. Going to a rival school and competing for a title against your former team, well, whatever.

Well, he’ll probably catch more balls. That said, he’ll now be on the receiving end of the MSU beatdowns.

Am I a bad fan if I don't wish him good luck?

True. Was decent at this level and would have been a good piece for depth but that is all.

I’m not telling anyone what to say or feel. Not that I did much before, but I’m not buying anything these guys write in their transfer posts.

Could not even catch a ball when it mattered against NDSU.
