I’m frustrated too. But to make decisions on how you feel about a player or if you’re going to support them because of other players isn’t quite right. Support the guys while they are here.

What I can say is Jhase's dad stays away from this board purposefully. And jhase rarely gets on social media at all. He, jhase, could careless if you support him or not... the kid is focused and outside voices mean little to him... if he cared about what people thought he wouldn't be at Montana St in the first place so take that for what it's worth.....

Wait wait wait, I can take some blame on this. When I was having a meltdown about losing people I asked Texas how long Jhase was planning on staying… so I’ll admit to that. Never said I would not support him, I’m actually pumped about Jhase, and it’s a big reason I’m not to up in arms about losing some DB’s

Just to clear up any confusion there. That response to his post was from me and I was talking about still supporting the collective and everyone in it by buying group merch or Senior merch. I don’t purchase underclassmen merch but still support them with monthly monetary contributions to the collective as a whole and purchasing any group merch they are in (i.e., Donjoy mafia or Juice squad). That way I reach more people rather than just buying an individuals merchandise. I do still try to honor individual Seniors that stick around by purchasing their stuff as well, but only Seniors.

Did our entire fanbase forget about the way this program has developed players in recent history? Also, The portal has brought us nearly as many good players as we have lost. I expect this year to be no different. They’ll fill any open roster spots (due to graduation or portal) with players they think can contribute now or later.

Briefly looking. I take Lamson, just for the fact he has two years, if my crystal ball told me he’d stay for two.

On the flip side, Martinez is a hell of a passer and play maker. Maybe having a year of success with a QB that allows for balance would serve us well.

If have no problem saying fans of MSU should primarily support players that they know with 99.9% certainty won't take off as soon as someone promises them some cash. If you want to support everyone else on the team as well that's fine too. We'll welcome anyone that is coming here to play football, not just looking for a pay day. If that hurts some parents feelings then maybe they need to think about what kind of example they're setting for their kids. There are plenty of other schools that will pay their kids if that's all they care about.

Pretty easy to narrow down who this could be. This either follows the trend we've seen all week or we could have a much bigger issue on our hands.

Everybody needs to relax. I am sure there are a handful of of DB’s/safeties that our coaches are already looking at. I am one that would love to see some JUCO/Portal guys brought in, but if it doesn’t happen you know they are going to replace the positions first that need the most attention.

If you're mad about these guys leaving that's defensible. It's frustrating when "we" (the university, athletic dept, boosters and yes fans) invest time and money in these kids and then they take off. But I know this thread is going to turn the other way when we start announcing the next group of "mercenaries" coming in to fortify next year's team. And we'll love watching them play. And then some will leave. And we'll do all this again.

That's not what Rohan did. He was a mercenary when he came here. All these kids were. Maybe we didn't know it but they were. And imo it doesn't matter what has been. This is reality now. And it's going to be a giveth and taketh thing every single December and January.

I realize there’s a lot of disappointment, I’m frustrated and disappointed too, but we *might* be taking all of this a little too seriously.

I think alot of this disappointment stems from seeing many portal out of griz town, SDSU and Idaho get decimated, and a general assumption that with Vigen staying and making it to the NC the Cats would not suffer the same losses. Reality bites however and here we are. You know what assuming does, and now many of us are feeling like asses for being overconfident that this team would stay intact.

I was a bit in the know with Lamson and Martinez. So let’s change subjects here, if we had absolutely zero QB talent coming back. Who’d we want Lamson or Martinez of the chosen one was to be starter.

If have no problem saying fans of MSU should primarily support players that they know with 99.9% certainty won't take off as soon as someone promises them some cash. If you want to support everyone else on the team as well that's fine too. We'll welcome anyone that is coming here to play football, not just looking for a pay day. If that hurts some parents feelings then maybe they need to think about what kind of example they're setting for their kids. There are plenty of other schools that will pay their kids if that's all they care about.

And how do you with 99.9% accuracy know who isn't a risk of leaving so you know who to support? Only upperclassmen? Only montana natives? Only the athletes that grew up montana st fans? Please tell me your formula for knowing who are the ones you should support.

I've got it! Since all players and coaches care about is who's gonna get them that bag, fans should just portal around every year as well!! Pick the team with best chance to win and spend your money on them since it's not about pride in the team or building a lasting lagacy!!

If it's one of those you mentioned, would that be the first Montana native that portalled out? And what sort of effect will that have moving forward? Could be good for the hopefuls and recruiting in some ways. Could be really bad for the fan base though and team morale in general.

Part of the issue right now: only Montana State and North Dakota State players are eligible to enter the portal. Maybe a few fbs teams. So all the vultures are focused on a few teams.

Coincidence, as we have discussions particularly in regards to being recruited for the NFL, tight ends for Philadelphia and Green Bay come from FCS South Dakota state.
And now the starting right tackle for Tampa Bay Buccaneers comes from North Dakota State
I realize that players transfer for different reasons, but there is one where I think they don’t realize potential to get recruited where they are at in a winning program.
