When I first saw his photo, I thought Kevin Kassis's little brother joined the team as a DB.

I posted this about a month ago. It is on ASU Coach Kenny Dillingham and his approach to the portal. This should be the future. I think he is ahead of the curve.nanacat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:10 pmIn this climate with the portal I'm not sure a coach can take a hard stance, especially with coaching jumps too. It's gotta be a case by case situation, as mentioned before. The player, the reason, the roster, etc. Certainly not allowing players to indefinitely shop is important, but also helping them navigate things correctly, as they are still young men who may not have wise counsel in their lives. Between peer pressure, seeing dollar signs, or not being happy with play time, communication is key, and based on Vigen's interview after his contract renewal about transparency, he wants and promotes openess and honesty, and that's good.

Quote from article:
“My job is to help these guys,” Dillingham said. “Just because they went into the portal doesn’t meant they shouldn’t have the opportunity to continue to be on the team and to finish out the year, if that’s what they want to do.”

And that’s the key right there. Dillingham isn’t taking that stance to try and be nicer than other coaches. He’s hoping it will give him an edge so that more players want to come to ASU.nanacat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:03 pmYes. I think you have to be careful about this. I’m not saying the right approach is a hard line where anyone who enters is done. But if you’re too loose, you could have huge swathes of your roster shopping themselves every offseason, including guys who otherwise wouldn’t.

I think it’s important to note the majority, and possibly everybody, who entered the portal for ASU when Dillingham made that comment was looking at transferring to a lesser school. Vigen and MSU did the exact same thing either way those players too. Dilly might have a different opinion for his star players leaving.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:30 pmAnd that’s the key right there. Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
He got his star player from the last two seasons from Sac State, and I doubt he’s as contradictory as many posters here are about players who transfer in compared to those who transfer out. You gain some each year; you lose others. Who cares about why, ultimately it’s that reality.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:43 pmI think it’s important to note the majority, and possibly everybody, who entered the portal for ASU when Dillingham made that comment was looking at transferring to a lesser school. It all comes down to the self-interest of each poster ans they view their fandom, and how it impacts their opinions, and especially those who apparently can read the minds of players like Scottre Humphrey and Dru Polidore. Kind of arrogant in my view.

Crazy to think people might be hypocritical when it comes to their personal success.PapaG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:30 pmHe got his star player from last season from Sac State, and I doubt he’s as contradictory as many posters here are about players who transfer in compared to those who transfer out.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:43 pmI think it’s important to note the majority, and possibly everybody, who entered the portal for ASU when Dillingham made that comment was looking at transferring to a lesser school. Or even posters on a message board, who have much less invested in the lives of players and coaches than those players/coaches have in living their life. Yet, they still get so upset about it one might think it’s a matter of life and death.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:32 pm

I guess posters, and boosters, and fans can quit reading and commenting, quit donating each time they are begged for money for facilities, NIL, and other causes and just enjoy their lives with their familiesPapaG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:37 pmOr even posters on a message board, who have much less invested in the lives of players and coaches than those players/coaches have in living their life. The school marms who scold people for not reacting to Bobcats news properly are definitely the best feature of BN.

That’s always an option. There is nothing MSU can do right now to change the reality of NIL and the portal, though. If it upset me as much as it’s upsetting some of you, I’d simply just stop following the sport.tetoncat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:42 pmPapaG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:37 pmOr even posters on a message board, who have much less invested in the lives of players and coaches than those players/coaches have in living their life.
