I’m not scolding anyone. Act how you want. I’m merely commenting on the reactions, not telling you not to react how you will. When I see people pretending they know the exact thinking of players moving on, that seems a bit too far but some fans are truly fanatics.

Ohalete and Meredith are both technically freshmen I believe, despite coming out of high school in 2022.

I wonder if that new JUCO rule is going to hurt players who have entered the portal.

At this point, Ohalete and Meredith's JC years will still count against their eligibility. The NCAA ruling was very specific and applies only to players who played JC ball AND whose eligibility would have run out after the 2024 season under the old rules. Those players (including Diego Pavia who filed the lawsuit) get one more year of eligibility in 2025 if they want.

One caveat: The JUCO players have a pretty decent case. I think it's at least 50-50 that they win this one. Its not as strong or clear cut as Ed O'Bannons NIL case (O'Bannon won at the district court, he won at the 9th Court of Appeals, and SCOTUS was unanimous in its final decision...might be the only high profile unanimous SCOTUS decision in a decade or so) but its a pretty decent case.

Or even posters on a message board, who have much less invested in the lives of players and coaches than those players/coaches have in living their life. Yet, they still get so upset about it one might think it’s a matter of life and death.

I guess posters, and boosters, and fans can quit reading and commenting, quit donating each time they are begged for money for facilities, NIL, and other causes and just enjoy their lives with their families

That’s always an option. There is nothing MSU can do right now to change the reality of NIL and the portal, though. If it upset me as much as it’s upsetting some of you, I’d simply just stop following the sport.

And my point is if that happens it will truly hurt the program. Amazing some of you get so upset that fans express opinions and feelings if it doesn't match yours. If it bothers you so much quit reading Bobcat Nation.
