What a game! The Griz tried to play the Cats' game by pressing early on and the Bobcats said "how cute". Hoping for the best with the injuries to Marah and Dylan, hopefully Marah was held out in the second half as a precaution which is easy to do when you're up 27. Dylan's injury looked more serious, a knee vs Marah's ankle.

If my quick math is correct, MSU will move up to #1 in Division 1 in steals per game after today's game.

There are 2 things I didn't like about today's game, Dykstra and Philip got hurt. I caught a quick glimpse of them each walking off the floor after the game and I'm nervously optimistic. Thank goodness the coaches have such a strong bench that they should be able to rest those 2 till they are completely healthy again.

Now with the negative out of the way here's a long list of positives.

Cats won virtually every measurable statistic. Ok they only got 12 offensive rebounds to UM's 13 big whoop, and that's the best they've done on the boards in a long time.

They extended their lead of 27 points at the half up to 40 points at the 2:28 minute mark of the 3rd Qtr. and they did that without Dykstra.

The bench outscored the starters 54 to 44. Helped by Dykstra only playing 6 minutes and Philip going out early too.

Deden played well and got 10 points 3 rebounds and 3 steals in 16 minutes. The rest of the team was looking for her and finding her. I especially remember one really awesome pass from Philip to Deden.

Jansen got a nice 11 points and 3 rebounds in her 17 minutes.

Erickson got in the game for 7 minutes and scored 4 points because she hustled hard did some nice rim running to get layups, which brings me to my final point.

Issy Bunyan made 2 steals, and both times started the fast break that led to Erickson getting her 2 layups. The passes Issy made on those 2 assists were absolute in-stride dimes. On one of those fast breaks Issy had a plenty good path to the hoop herself but gave the ball up to an even better positioned teammate. On another play where Picton made a steal and was on a fast break, Issy hustled down the floor hard and got the rebound on Picton's miss but didn't make the put back. (dang it!) She gave her all in the 6 minutes she played. It really has to be difficult for her only playing an average of under 8 minutes this year when she played over 21 minutes per game last year.

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on that one since she's a fifth year player but this is her first year in the Big Sky. Coaches often prep their players by jersey number instead of by name so I can see how she may not know all the MSU players by name. She answered the question quite accurately after being given the jersey number.

Couple times they guarded Morales like they didn't know who she was...and left her wide open at the 3 point line.

Huge dark cloud over this one with the injuries to Philip and Dykstra. Marah did come back in for a little while but with large margin it didn't make sense to leave her in. Really worried about Dylan. The way everyone was hugging on her doesn't bode well.

This game shows what this team is capable of when they avoid those long scoring droughts. Super excited for Deden and Janssen who both played great and had a real impact. Taylee Chirrick is approaching rockstar status-what a player! Should be cutting the nets down after the Portland State game on Thursday night. Y'all need to be there!

Pretty tough situation for Call and Wadington to sit and give interviews after a game like that. Call looked and sounded like she could start crying at any moment or flip the table and walk out but she did hold it together pretty well, kind of. I think Colter tried to shift the attention off her when he asked Wadington a question but everyone went right back to Call and the reporters never did go back to Wadington which was unfortunate for both Call and Wadington.
Concerning Call pretending to not know which Bobcat was Morales, I'm not buying it one bit. Wadington found it so ridiculous that she couldn't help but give a little laugh.

I really dislike Nate Harris. If he would become the gris head coach, I just won’t be able to dislike their head coach. So I have to dislike him for making me like him when he was here.

Pretty amazing what Coach Bin said in the presser, because she’s got a very good point to judge talent from. She said everyone ought to get out to the Brick for these two final home games because they can see a player who’s going to play in the WNBA, or a least professional basketball, for a long time, as she’s really that good. So, everyone that can, get out to the Brick, watch them hang the Big Sky banner, and see this amazing Bobcat.

I had more foot and ankle injuries playing basketball than I had any injury in football. I spent three days in a hospital after blowing out my ankle going up for a rebound and coming down awkwardly on another guys foot.
