Sac State seemed like they had us figured out on both ends. Not sure if Phillip or Dykstra would have made that much difference.
...for today we raise, the BLUE and GOLD to wave victorious!... GO CATS GO!

Now, they have to win the last game at Idaho to win the conference outright. Crazy.

Having Phillip & Dykstra in there would have been worth at least 5 extra pts and another 3-4 rebounds. Their experience is worth that alone.
I also don’t think this team has peaked yet. We saw a glimpse of a complete game against the gris, but haven’t sustained that level since.
They will turn it around and beat Idaho - Go Cats Go!!

Absolutely they would have made a difference, those are both amazing players. But the injury bug finally hit the team this year and they've got to fight through it. Just a sloppy and lackadaisical game today after they got up by 13 in the second quarter and Sac State hit multiple crazy shots to hold off the comeback that MSU was never quite able to complete.

Could this loss possibly cost us a #12 seed, and knock us down to a 13 or 14 instead? I honestly have no idea, so asking those who understand the seeding process better than I do. If it does, then this could prove to be a very costly loss. As a 12 seed, I think we had a legit chance to win a game, but each and every notch that we might fall below that, reduces our chances significantly.

Being down two starters hurt us. One of those also being an all conference first teamer. How many threes did Sac bank in? They played great. Too many turnovers and just really bad execution on the last two possessions. Don't care about sharing the title-the 1 seed is already ours. Have to probably beat this Sac State bunch again in the tournament. Better to lose this one than that one I guess. Winning the Big Sky tournament without Dykstra is going to be really hard to do. I hope she's back, but the way she's walking now, I doubt she'll be 100%.

100%, I think their only chance at a 12 seed was to win out. I hope I'm wrong and I hope we get to find out!John K wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 5:54 pmCould this loss possibly cost us a #12 seed, and knock us down to a 13 or 14 instead? Absolutely they would’ve made a difference. Phillip is tough as nails and she does all the little things on defence. Dykstra is a Conference All-Team caliber player who also does all the little things like help D and assists who’s also been scoring double figures. The Cats will get their groove again. Hopefully by Boise.

Too many turnovers on weak passes to the middle of the court, to many easy 10 foot shots in the lane turned down trying to pass underneath for a layup against bigger players. Harris is going to be good, but she can't score against someone bigger than her by posting up. Without Dykstra we have no post game. I thought Taylor Jansen had a good game down low defensively, but she still has never been a post up player. Lex has not really gotten her game back yet. She makes a good move but doesn't find the rim before she shoots. Natalie Picton and Morales were the only players that showed up offensively. Martin was non- existent.

Those horrible passes were just that, HORRIBLE. That loss sure didn't help them in any seeding conversation.
They still have 2 more of their stated season goals/rings ahead of them and within reach so finish strong ladies and win out. The 2 remaining rings are; winning the conference tournament and playing in the NCAA tournament.
Did the women lend their winning formula to the men's team today? because I would've guessed the scores of those 2 games would've been the exact opposite of how they went.

Watching the highlights the Bobcats had a great chance when they got that steal with a tie game and a minute left. For some reason Picton keeps it herself on a 3 on 1 break, Sac gets the jump ball and possession and scores themselves on a second chance because nobody other than Chirrick seemed capable of getting a defensive rebound today and she wasn't in down the stretch. Esme will also be kicking herself for that careless turnover with 5 seconds left in the first half that led to the banked 3 for Sac. Those points ended up making a HUGE difference. I think they'll respond against Idaho but I don't feel good about the Big Sky Tournament right now if Marah can't return from her injury.

What!? I had baseball commitments all day and I come on here to see how the women won only to see they lost?! And the men won by 27? What’s going on here?!

Evidently this is what happened, the women leant their winning formula to the men's team today?Common Cat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 7:32 pmWhat!? I had baseball commitments all day and I come on here to see how the women won only to see they lost?! And the men won by 27? What’s going on here?!
It's either that or someone really messed with the space time continuum or something similar in Brick Breeden.

I dont know what you guys are talking about banked 3's. All Sac's 3's were all net. #20 torched us.
I thought the refs sucked. They let sac body us down low. Esme was pleading for calls they should've been making.

Most were, but there were two off the board that were either luck or slop as they were just thrown up as time or shot clock ran out. Sac hit a lucky streak as their 3s from distance fell. I say luck, because if they could consistently shoot like that, they wouldn't be at the bottom of the BSC. Cats sure didn't help themselves by giving up so many lay ins
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

I'm sick about the loss. It kills our NCAA tournament seeding. BUT-if we had won and then lost in the Big Sky tournament...anyway I look forward to what this team will do to Sac State in Boise. It's not going to be pretty. But I will say this, Katie Peneueta is a favorite of mine. She was stellar in Sac State's championship run in 2023 and I hope to shake her hand in Boise and compliment her on her game today. She won it for them. That's part of the fun in Boise. The players are all there and very accessible. You'll find that that even the kids on the other teams are great people and they love being acknowledged for their efforts.

Two banks, including buzzer beater at the half.

You are right about the seeding. In the million variables, there are two things that are always seen. Good wins (FGCU) and bad losses (SAC). That one win was what kept them pegged above FGCU who is also a 3-loss team. Ironically, this loss could hurt FGCU as well.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 12:30 amI'm sick about the loss. I was hoping we would go at her more and try to get her to foul out...BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 12:30 amI'm sick about the loss. It kills our NCAA tournament seeding. Yes her and Benth were good. BV not so much in the scoring but she completely took away pur ability to get steals. I mean I don't think I saw Natalie get a poke on the ball at all this game and how often does that happen with the other teams point guard.
Sac totally took away our ability to press by getting in the ball right away as soon as we made a bucket, not allowing us to set up. And if you noticed we cut down on our rotations because of it and just played them straight up. I think because largely Sac's ability to get KP the ball and have her hit 3's. We cut way down on her touches in the 2nd half. And then BV would just dribble around a bunch until they tried to make something happen.
