Refs in NAU/UM are keeping Grizzlies in the game…..
I'd say it's NAU's terrible shooting more than the refs.
I had the same thought watching the game, but then realized it was more due to NAU just being exhausted and a step behind. The tournament schedule is rough on teams that play starters 36+ minutes a game.
Undoubtedly true. The antithesis of the NAU men is the MSU women whose bench played more total minutes than the starters yesterday.
NAU had sort of the same issue that’s plagued the Cats this year. The bulk of their offense goes through one player. They ran ISO with McLaughlin a bunch and it sorta worked till it didn’t. He went cold and the Griz pulled away. McLaughlin is better at finding the open man if they double though.

Watching the Weber/ISU game and Weber looks HORRIBLE. Hard to believe they won 10 conference games this year.

Both Weber and ISU have their bands here! Atmosphere improved. Weber’s dance team was killer. I love this tournament.

ISU men’s team activity watching and cheering on their women’s team. Weber State sitting in end zone looking bored. ISU is up by 20 and playing well. Bobcats need be ready for a battle tomorrow.

Noticed ISU put in backups early to conserve energy knowing they were going to win and play us. Announcers on tv mentioned Weber ran out of gas because they have a limited bench. They beat ISU both games in the regular season.

There was less than two minutes left when they took their starters out so I doubt they were able to conserve too much energy. I think what we saw in this game was a highly experienced coach in Seton for ISU taking advantage of a full week to prepare for a more inexperienced coach and team in Weber. Coach Binford will have the Bobcats ready to go, I think they'll win fairly easily as I didn't think ISU looked all that great either today.

Both Idaho and the griz have their bands here. Idaho brought a big band. The Vandals have the best school song in the conference which annoys me to no end. Winner of this one gets NAU tomorrow.

Idaho State isn't particularly deep off the bench either. Even in this blowout game, they only had 3 bench players play more than 3 minutes.

Women's semifinals are now set, MSU vs ISU in the first game and NAU vs Gris in the second game. MSU and NAU should be heavily favored but anything can happen!

Idaho and UNC have the best music schools in the conference. If a person wants to major in music those two are where you go. Jazz especially at UNC. So I could see Idaho having a good lot of kids in their band.

Idaho, who MSU made look pretty mediocre in the regular season finale, is currently running Portland State out of the gym in the second quarterfinal tonight. Looks like the lower seed will win all four games today.

With Idaho, Montana, and Montana State in the semi's the crowd is going to be pretty big tomorrow night for the men's session. Might be a Boise record setter.

I'm not annoyed by their band, I'm annoyed that their school song is so good.
The bands make a huge difference. Montana, Montana State, Idaho State, Idaho, and Weber State brought their bands this year. NAU rented Meridian High's band-which is better than nothing.

Today's games:

#1 MSU vs #5 ISU at Noon
#2 NAU vs #6 UM at 2:30

#1 UNC vs #5 MSU at 7:00
#2 UM vs #6 Idaho at 9:30

I still find it hard to believe that the MSU men have now won 12 total tournament games in the last five tournaments since 2021, when they had won a grand total of three combined games in the twenty tournaments between 2000 and 2019 (two in 2009 and one in 2019).

Yep…both Weber State wins during the season were OT wins. I was secretly hoping this one was gonna go into triple OT before being settled! But alas it wasn’t to be. ISU looked strong and it should be a good game today.

Maybe you were at the pre-game kickoff at Parilla Grill too. But Coach Logie came in and said that Sam Lecholat and Tyler Patterson had only lost one game each at the Big Sky tourney in their 5 year careers. I just had never thought of it like that.
