Grace did a great segment on the Bobcats and gave the mic to Natalie Picton haha. Shows their personality and chemistry goes beyond the court.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

I will keep the rest of my opinions about SWX to myself.
I won’t. Rainey is the biggest homer and fan girl of all time.

Headline: “Montana Men Change Underwear Morning of Big Dance Debut.”
Yeah watch his tweets. One tweet about the Bobcats playing to 10 tweets about the griz. But no he's not a griz fan.
Rainey is and will always be a Montana gris sports advocate. His side gig is as a Montana sports journalist. The people who are fans of his love him for it, as he gives them what they want in the media forum. He has reached his peak as a small market advocate/journalist. Take it for what it is, he will continue to linger on as time goes by as he has nowhere else to go..

The State of Montana is Bobcat country.
missoula....still just 20 miles from Montana.

Not sure why everyone's complaining about Shaun Rainey when he's based in Missoula and his job is to cover the Griz and Missoula area sports. Austin Parr is the SWX reporter based in Bozeman who covers MSU, he's currently in Columbus with the MSU women. Follow him if you don't like Rainey's coverage.

Anyway, big win tonight for the NAU women 71-69 over Arizona in Tuscon. That's the second time this year they beat Arizona.

Shaun is the sports director for the entire state of Montana for SWX. Austin is a reporter tasked with covering the Bozeman area.

Thos was awesome!

That's pretty funny that Brooke asked for blue and gold and the gold on top of the blue made green.

So basically, Shaun is doing his job as sports director by assigning a reporter to be based in the Bozeman area and cover MSU. I assume that his job is to make sure that MSU is receiving adequate coverage from someone, not necessarily to do all that coverage himself. Especially when it would be geographically infeasible for him to provide that coverage as well as a reporter based in Bozeman can.

It's game day! Looking forward to sneaking out of work a little early this afternoon to head out for a couple beers and hopefully a historic Bobcat upset!

What’s the Missoula channel that’s been playing in Bozeman since the dawn of time? I had no idea that was still going on until I watched the 10:00 news last night while in Bozeman. All the news, weather and sports was centered on Missoula…still. So bizarre. Like having a weird dream.
KTMF (ABC/Fox) does not have a station/studio in Bozeman, only Missoula. And that same affiliate only has a bureau in Bozeman. And that bureau has one news reporter and one sports reporter. It's basically just to provide statewide coverage for SWX, the sports extension of ABC/Fox, which Austin goes a good job of.

If you want statewide sports, watch SWX. If you want statewide news, the closest option you're going to get in Bozeman is KBZK. MTN is the only company with stations in all (or most) of the markets. Sinclair is close but...it's Sinclair, so I don't think I need to explain why those stations are struggling, even in Montana. Not sure they have a newscast in Bozeman. And Cowles Media which owns ABC/Fox does not have a newscast in Bozeman

In terms of coverage, we have the exact same content for the men's and women's tournaments in terms of the press conferences, the audio and video from them etc. I did a one on one video with Marah Dykstra that I believe was the only one-on-one from a student athlete for UM or MSU provided to any media outlet.....I wrote a feature about Travis DeCuire and I have not had time for anything else. I was not able to go to either tournament site because I have watch parties that my boss booked before the Big Sky Tournament. It's also the week that awards for the EB Craney's and Emmy's are due. And our two producers are out on spring break. So I sat at the ESPN studio until 3 a.m. the last two nights editing our 7 submissions

When the quotes come from press conferences that every media outlet has, it sometimes seems just like regurgitation to post the audio and video and then also write a feature. That said, I almost always try to do so. This week, I literally just ran out of time. But I'll have a write up plus post game video and audio after the game today.

Other thing to remember is it's a helluva lot easier to get to Denver than Columbus and we also have way more connections in Denver. I know one person in the whole world that lives in Columbus. Unfortunately, it's a reality but a stark one: this is a business. I used to hope that journalism would never be affected by money, but we've decided cumulatively as a society that money is the thing that matters above all other factors so.....

Anyways, I just like to rant for my own therapy but also remind you that 98 percent of the coverage decisions we make as a statewide media corps are either following orders or stemming directly from limits on time, money or both.

Speaking of content!

To make up for my lack of writing this week, I also invited Montana State WBB play by play man and director of ops Daniel Salle on Nuanez Now. He's awesome, loved his insight!

Thank you, Colter! Hey Everyone, Austin Parr with SWX here. I apologize for not having more content from Columbus this week, as I missed my connecting flight due to the weather. I was planning on having a story for Wednesday on the Bobcats, but was stuck traveling all day. I did a story from Selection Sunday, a story on Tricia and Leon's contract extensions, and the link below is my game preview. I was on the 2-hour morning show today talking all about the Bobcats. I did 4 extra hits to bring the juice this morning to everyone back in Montana. I told the morning show we needed more Bobcat coverage, I hear you! I also operate on what I am told the shows need. Hopefully, we can bump up the Cats coverage more. I am here for you as the Bobcats reporter. Thank you for tuning in and I will continue to advocate for more Bobcats coverage!
Here is the link to the video game preview, with an extended preview in the article. If the link doesn't work, this is on our SWX homepage. Hoping for an upset this afternoon!
