Ouch. I have been a sports fan my whole life, but I am wondering how long I will continue to be. The human interest aspect of following individuals and cheering for them because they are on your team is really disappearing. I don’t like this whole new landscape.

Well, that doesn’t make a lot of sense, but, okay. I wonder if she was offered somewhere else.

NIL and the portal sucks. I’m struggling to get used to it or think it’s good for college athletics. Not gonna get any easier.

The level of apathy I've felt over the last few years is remarkable.saintcat40 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 6:14 pmOuch. Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Make$ a lot of $en$e to me. Marah can clearly play at a higher level than the Big Sky. Definitely has a pro career ahead of her if she wants one. Now I'm seeing that Natalie is also in the portal. Sophie Glancey of NAU too. Just blow up the whole Big Sky, why not.

Ok I give up. Count me out on this crap. Cancelling my monthly collective donation until there's a new landscape in college athletics that makes a least tiny bit of sense.

Yeah, money over going down as a program legend. Pretty amazing. I’m very close to being done with basketball. Programs rebuilding every year isn’t for me.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 6:41 pmMake$ a lot of $en$e to me. Marah can clearly play at a higher level than the Big Sky. I'm with you, or at least I have zero desire to follow this crap between March and October. I'll happily support whoever shows up in an MSU uniform next November but thank goodness you don't have to buy programs with the roster lists anymore.AFCAT wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 6:52 pmYeah, money over going down as a program legend. Re: Dykstra in Portal
Another punch to the gut. If Marah has graduated and needs to move on to further her education while still having eligibility, I can deal. Natalie, not so much. Just have to stop investing my emotions in our players and watch dispassionately. Already pretty much there with men’s basketball, on the way there with football, now the greatest joy I get from MSU athletics is being sapped. At least rodeo hasn’t found the NIL portal … yet.

I have friends that are already dropping out of the QB club. NIL could be the death of college sports at lower FCS and FBS level programs and non power basketball.

Re: Dykstra in Portal
Here is my take, so feel free to roast away.
NONE OF THIS changes my fandom or love of sports. I will always remember Dykstra shot VS gris, will always remember the magical run the men had over the last 4 years, the speed at which the womens team played last year. These players are like shooting stars. It doesn't last forever, but will be remembered long after they die out. I appreciate the time they spent at MSU, and will enjoy seeing where their journey takes them in the future. Once a Cat, always a Cat.
I also look forward to seeing how any new faces will do once they put on the Blue and Gold. It is an exciting time (especially in for Womens team). Let's enjoy the journey, and be just as loud in The Brick next year... Stand up and Cheer, for this is dear MONTANA STATE!!

I am trying to imagine what Binford is feeling/thinking? I have strongly advocated building a team with high school recruits. Now, I don’t know.
This makes me appreciate Martin, Janssen and Deeden even more.

Silly me for thinking Coach Bin, team chemistry, MSU's great environment, and culture would keep kids here. I'm disgusted with this. Please don't move to another Big Sky team so I have to root against you like I rooted against Leah Beattie after she left.

Re: Dykstra in Portal
Pro career? Maybe at some European backwater but she is no WNBA player. Watch five minutes of UConn, Tennessee, South Carolina, UCLA, USC, LSU and you'll see what pro players look like. Sorry, but I'm bitter about this. Dykstra, a key contributor on a 30-win team, who made perhaps the greatest play in our women's history (the game winner against UM in the Big Sky tourney) and now she's leaving? She would have a fantastic next year had she returned, and is not good enough to play at a major power school, so would not appear to be in line for a major paycheck. So why???MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 6:41 pmMake$ a lot of $en$e to me. Marah can clearly play at a higher level than the Big Sky. Definitely has a pro career ahead of her if she wants one. Re: Dykstra in Portal
Dykstra and Picton gave it their all on the court. From everything I have heard they were great teammates. I do not know what factors led them to the decision.
As a fan and a booster, I am disappointed and shocked. But I am also thankful for all they did for the Bobcat program and I do wish them well going forward.
As 84CatGrad said, I certainly hope they do not go to team where I will be rooting against them.

Re: Dykstra in Portal
I suppose we'll find out soon whether she's good enough to play for a power school. Personally I think most players good enough to be First Team All-Big Sky are.84CatGrad wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:00 pmPro career? Maybe at some European backwater but she is no WNBA player. What a complete joke.
College football and basketball have been completely destroyed.
Sad.
