Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
It's been mentioned that Tommy, Brody and Marcus all had especially impressive Pro Days, their number were really good. What is the likelihood that Hall gets an NFL chance?

Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
I'd say there's a good shot of him getting a chance somewhere in training camp but a pretty low chance of making a roster. These NFL punters are like machines these days and are tough to beat out once they've won a starting job for a team.

Fair enough. Wasn't sure if he had something to offer better than others.

49ers punter has been having a lot of injury issues lately (back). I'm not saying they'd take Hall but they could be tempted.

Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
Times/Performances for Bobcat prospects are linked.
BLUF: I don't think this dramatically changed our opinions on any of these players (in the way that say, opnions on Okada changed dramatically after his pro day a couple of years ago). Athletically, they are who we thought they were. If scouts really thought that Wehr, Grebe, and Mellott were not NFL level athletes because of our level of competition, then these performances put those doubts to rest. But I suspect a fair number of scouts already had these guys graded accurately.
Tommy tested almost identically to Okada. He's an inch taller and 10 lbs heavier. He was .05 faster in the 40, a hair better in the vertical and a bit stronger on the bench. Ty was notably better in the agility drills and jumped several inches further.
If you think that Tommy has any chance as a QB (even as a backup/QB3) then his athletic profile is pretty extraordinary and probably worth taking a late-round flyer on. But if you think he's a WR/Safety, then his numbers are quite good, but not elite by NFL standards. So you bring him into camp and see if you can develop him. I wouldn't bet against Tommy, but he's not a "sure thing"
Brody probably helped himself the most of any of our guys despite testing an inch shorter and 10lbs lighter than on his offiical numbers.
38 inch Vertical at his size is elite and the rest of his numbers 4.6 40 with a fast 1.56 10 yard split etc. were all solid to strong. He definitely showed without a doubt that he's an NFL athlete, and now I expect he'll get a free agent contract and a chance to prove himself to some team.
Wehr also helped himself, despite very poor agility drills. He was good to excellent in all of his other testing including 40 time, vertical jump and broad jump, bench press, etc. If you thought he was a draftable prospect based on the tape, nothing in these numbers would dissuade you. He's still our most likely guy to get drafted.
Ortt and Sain also put up solid numbers and helped themselves with solid performance across the board. Ortt's 4.72 was slow, but in all of his other drills from vertical, to agility to bench, he put up good numbers. Nothing shocking but both of these guys showed they were potentially NFL level athletes and worthy of a tryout camp. Hall tested well also, though he's not going to get drafted based on his tests.
McCullough and Thomas were also solid, but not sure they moved the needle enough to make up for solid but pedestrian college numbers.
But bottom line, almost all of our guys helped themselves at least a little bit. Not sure we have a surefire NFL guy on this roster, but it wouldn't surprise me that if four guys ended up getting at least a cup of coffee in the league. A lot will depend on them putting themselves in good situations.

Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
As for former Bobcats, also worth nothing that Seabass was the standout of Washington's pro day. Ran a 5.0 40 and 301 lbs and benched 34 reps, which would have been the top performance at the combine. I thought he was our best NFL prospect last year and even though he went into this process as a UDFA, I think there's a good chance he'll get drafted based on the combine performance and a very solid year at UW (Honorable mention All big 10)

Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
It seems like Tommy might almost be better off as a UDFA in that he would be able to talk to different teams about how they want to use him and make his decision based on where he thinks he'd have the best shot to have success. Overall it seems like MSU has several guys with a pretty good chance to make an NFL roster, although we'll probably never top the 2022 class that had two draft picks and two more UDFA players that made NFL rosters as rookies.

Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
Great interview with Tommy. If I were to bet on how this is going to play out, it's this. Tommy either gets drafted late, or picked up as an UDFA, and then gets on with a team, works his ass off and impresses everybody with his insane talent level to go along with how frigging smart he is, football smart and everything else. Then he'll start standing out and people will be like, where did this "small school" kid come from? Then he'll continue to grow and develop and could easily turn into an NFL star player from the Big Sky, like Jarod Allen, Kroy Bierman, Alex Singleton, Marc Mariani, Cooper Kupp, etc... just to name a few.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Tommy = Julian Edelman type
Of prospect. Edelman played qb in college and I think he gets on the right team he can be that guy. As much as I hate them I think chiefs with Andy Reid would be an ideal spot. Or a Taysom hill type of player for the broncos and Sean Payton.

David Thompson had anywhere from a 44-48” vertical depending on the sources.
Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

Here’s what’s crazy: Tommy is WAY more athletic than Julian Edelman. He’s also more athletic than Troy Andersen….BlueNGoldTilIDie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 3:56 pmTommy = Julian Edelman type

Covered the Big Sky for 19 years. Best pro day I’ve ever seen and that doesn’t just mean Tommy.
But Tommy… the median time was 4.39….I had him at 4.31 and 4.34. He’s the fastest guy in the history of the Big Sky.

Re: Pro Day and Draft Prospects
Yeah no doubt. I'm sure there were a bunch of scouts that figured might as well double dip as long as they were going to be at MSU's proday.
