She'd need to enroll in graduate courses, which would seem pretty easy as MSU offers a Master's degree in her field of study (Elementary Ed). If she decides to return it could be a pretty good deal for her, another year of school paid for by a scholarship and then if she can get her Master's or at least complete a significant number of graduate credits it will bump her up the salary scale a little bit once she gets her first teaching job.RickRund wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 11:14 amQuestion... With my great memory sorry if this has been previously covered. A Senior, this one being Lexie, has graduated and walked/will walk with the class. To play next year what are her academic requirements to continue playing? Guessing the same for some that have done post grad work?
Thanks

Yes it has appeared in media. And yes she did convey it to fans. And yes the education department already said she is pursuing her masters. But I will go silent on the matter and let you wrestle with it.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 8:58 amI just went back and checked all the Cat Chat recordings and unless they missed uploading one, Lexi wasn't one of the players who did an interview this season. She also participated in Senior Day last month, which suggests that at least at that point she hadn't made a final decision yet. KJ and Taylor did both decide to return after participating in 2024 Senior Day. I haven't seen any media reporting that Lexi has decided to return for one more year but if she has, that would certainly be great news!

I'm not wrestling with anything, I just can't find any of the interviews or media reports that supposedly are out there about this. The Education Department post is from Fall semester and could easily just be meant to apply to Spring 2025 only. Everything I've heard suggests that she's likely to return but the final decision hadn't been made yet at the time the season ended. I hope I'm wrong!BobcatDel wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 10:15 pmYes it has appeared in media. And yes she did convey it to fans. And yes the education department already said she is pursuing her masters. Well, that raises a multitude of question-less answers and vice versa. She compliments the Weber organization strongly for many of the same things that she recently praised MSU for, but with just a hint of flavoring that MSU somehow comes up short. That, despite saying she loved the coaches and players. Her leaving NM was a little murky as well. Hard to believe she still has three years left. So, goodbye Hannah, we barely knew you. Good luck on your remaining career and wherever it will take you.

I think that's a little unfair. I mean for the vagueness of her answer it could be just the traumatic situation of her brother passing away and wanting to be closer to New Mexico and home. She maybe had a boyfriend that broke up with her and wants to leave. I mean for all we know she dated a teammate and they broke up(i just watched season 2 of Lioness so two people on the same team dating is fresh in my mind, not that I'm implying she swings that way, its just the point we dont know). There's a number of things that could be the reason. At the end of the day she says it wasn't the coaches or the team.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 1:00 amWell, that raises a multitude of question-less answers and vice versa. Does it? It says right in the article that she wanted an opportunity to play basketball, which she didn't really get at MSU other than being the last player off the bench in blowout wins. Maybe she would've had more playing time this coming season, although MSU still has enough talent returning and incoming with another great freshman class that Hannah still likely would've been a bench player. She wants to play but she also clearly tried to keep it professional and not criticize her former team on the way out the door. And maybe there are other reasons, but I don't see anything hinted at by her quotes.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 1:00 amWell, that raises a multitude of question-less answers and vice versa. I can see how B4E picked up on a potential cryptic message, though I hope and think he's wrong. I really liked how Hannah plays the game and would've loved seeing her get more time last year and was looking forward to watching her play for the Bobcats next year. It's not hard to imagine that she wouldn't quite get the playing time here that she appears to desire and at WSU she stands a far better chance of getting that court time.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:50 amDoes it? Just IMHO, that’s what I felt after reading the article. It’s kind of like you left a really good job with lots of benefits that you had praised, and then got to your next job and said “They sure know how to pay well and take care of their employees here.”, intentionally or not, casting a little shade on your previous employer. Perhaps she didn’t know how her words would sound. Interviews are dodgy things and I’ve never watched one back that delivered my message perfectly on point.
I’ll apologize to Hannah this way — I feel like you are a better player than was generally recognized. The MWC certainly thought so. Her court time was pretty productive when divided by the minutes played in points, rebounds, steals, assists. A well-rounded player. I thought she would be solidly in the “second line” and that’s not a bad place to be after one year, with three to go.
Hannah, just go be happy. That’s the toughest game of all.
