Women's Baskeetball Srping Commit(s)
I’m surprised this hasn’t been reported here yet. A couple of days ago, WBB Assitant Coach Devin Perez posted the link below:
While technically this could be about new lockers (or something similar), this kind of post typically hints at a new player commitment or signing. I've been looking around for clues on who it might be, but so far, no luck.
The player in question could be a transfer, a high school recruit for next year, or even an early commit for a future recruiting class. Stay tuned!

According to the list on this site, Heidi Smith and Courtney Smith are transferring to MSU from Toledo. It appears that they are twin sisters from Ontario who both redshirted for Toledo this past season and would have all four years of eligibility remaining. Both are listed as 6'1" guards on Toledo's roster.
Here's a brief highlight & interview video from their senior year of high school:

This reminded me of that old beer (?) commercial from the early 2000s. And TWINS!

It all makes sense. Natalie Picton, who's also from Ontario, transfered out to make room for her friends the Smith twins.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.

One thing that stands out to me is when they announced into the portal that Instagram post got 10 comments and 312 likes. The comments stand out. When Natalie and Marah announced entering the portal they got more comments than that from teammates and such supporting them. In less than a day they already have 287 likes and 62 comments. So they are coming to a culture that's way more supportive.

The last twins I remember were from Minot, ND. I am thinking on the names, but they haven’t bubbled up yet — seriously might have been Smith. They were *very good* players in the Spoelstra era (I think). They never fouled out because one might have seven fouls but her sister got three of them! Just kidding, but it was fun. It’s like having two KJs.

SACCAT’s play by play call for next year just became more challenging with the addition of the twins
.
So we now have 6 “guards” joining the team. I guess position named forward or wing is obsolete in the new age of baskeetball.

It's going to be funny.
I watched the one's highlights and I see a player with some moves similar to Jordan at Idaho State. Though Jordan can disappear at times. To your point they are 6'1 guards and if a forward is 6'2, how much difference is there?

Thank goodness for jersey numbers, and I'm sure Ian will appreciate that the parents gave the two sisters fairly distinctive first names and not very similar ones like some twins have (Jason and Jarron Collins, for example). I like that they wore #1 and #2 in high school, perhaps they can do the same at MSU as both of those numbers are currently available. I wonder if the "older" twin got to wear #1.

OK, finally, here it is. If this isn’t the ultimate reason to have names on the uniforms, I don’t know what is.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 8:29 amThank goodness for jersey numbers, and I'm sure Ian will appreciate that the parents gave the two sisters fairly distinctive first names and not very similar ones like some twins have (Jason and Jarron Collins, for example). I was joking all the way! But it would help that Ian guy out. I mean, if Smith passes to Smith for a layup, who really cares which? Except maybe Smith does.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:19 amHow will that help it is same last nameBobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 3:05 amOK, finally, here it is. Re: Women's Baskeetball Srping Commit(s)
SACCAT can handle it with ease with one eye closed even. It would be a big help if the twins had very different hair styles like the Moran twins at NAU had. Sometimes it's hard to see a number on the jersey but you can almost always see a player's head. Speaking of the Moran twins I think that Courtney and Heidi have a great chance of being better and even more impactful for the Bobcats than the Moran twins were for NAU. They are 2 inches taller and look to have great speed and ball handling, shooting and tenacious effort. Looking forward to next year's Cats.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 3:48 pmI was joking all the way! But it would help that Ian guy out. Re: Women's Baskeetball Srping Commit(s)
Oh, these two are another great get for Coach Bin. Unless I’m wildly wrong, she’s just added two more to her rotation of 9-10-11 deep. Maybe we can break the steals record pretty soon. I’ll take all the qualified 6’1” guards that are available.
And to think we’ve saved them from a career of being Toledo Mudhens (unless in those crazy days they became the Fighting Mudhens or something). Better a Bobcat then a Mudhen. I apologize to any past Toledo students that are on here.

They are the Toledo Rockets, the Mudhens are the minor league baseball team there. Has always been one of my favorite MiLB team nicknames!Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:42 amOh, these two are another great get for Coach Bin.
