Who would be a comparable for where Lamson is at? The WR from Rutgers is killing it.
One of the big surprises has been Vigen at QB.
Marsh is going to rotate in a lot at DT this year.
Lots of changes on offense but don’t expect to see much of it vs Oregon.

They aren’t going to run him as much as Chambers or Mellott. Probably more Lulay and McGhee.SparkCat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 8:37 pmWho would be a comparable for where Lamson is at? Re: Fall Camp
You can hear that he's committed. That's the main thing. MSU went decades with little to no commitment for sports from the top brass. He has what looks like an easy project (eastside grandstand) waiting for him. If he fails at that, then it'll be a rough ride. I have a hard time seeing that happen though.Long Time Cat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 10:45 pmI know we need to give him a chance, but he’s no Cruzado when it comes to giving a speech.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Oregon Ducks Football – Montana State Isn’t Just Coming for A Check – They’re Coming For A Win
August 8, 2025 Torrie Stratton Oregon Ducks 0
When the Oregon Ducks take the field at Autzen Stadium on August 30 to kick off their 2025 season, most fans will look at the name on the schedule and assume a comfortable win. Montana State? An FCS team? Surely, this is just a warm-up before the real challenges begin.
But that would be a mistake. A big one.
This isn’t a paycheck game for Montana State. It’s an opportunity—and they’re coming to Eugene with every intention of taking advantage of it.
A Nationally Ranked Threat
Montana State isn’t your average FCS opponent. In fact, they’re currently ranked No. 2 in the FCS preseason poll, trailing only North Dakota State. That’s not just a flattering nod—it’s a reflection of how good this program truly is.
The Bobcats are coming off a 15–1 season that saw them win the Big Sky title and reach the FCS national championship game. Under head coach Brent Vigen, they’ve become one of the most physical and consistent teams in the country, regardless of subdivision. They’re not just built to dominate the FCS—they’re built to challenge the FBS.
One of the players Ducks fans need to watch is Jordan Reed, Montana State’s junior quarterback who threw for over 2,800 yards and added 600 on the ground last season. Reed’s dual-threat ability allows the Bobcats to keep defenses honest, especially with the way they lean into zone-read and designed QB runs. At running back, Jared White is a punishing downhill runner who rushed for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns last year. He runs behind a veteran offensive line led by All-Big Sky tackle Connor Moore, giving the Bobcats the tools to control tempo and clock.
On defense, linebacker Nolan Askelson returns as the heart of the unit. He led the team in tackles in 2024 and plays sideline-to-sideline with the kind of instinct you usually see in Power Five linebackers. Edge rusher Ben Seymour is also back after posting 9.5 sacks and constantly disrupting backfields in the Big Sky.
Not Oregon’s First FCS Scare
For Oregon fans, this setup may feel uncomfortably familiar. Just last season, the Ducks opened against Idaho—another FCS opponent that was supposed to roll over quietly. Instead, Oregon labored through a mistake-filled 24–14 win, drawing boos at times from the home crowd. Despite being 49-point favorites, the Ducks looked disjointed and uninspired.
After the game, head coach Dan Lanning publicly called out the team’s focus, questioning whether the preparation matched the expectations. It didn’t—and the Ducks nearly paid for it.
Now, fast-forward to this year’s opener, and Oregon faces a significantly better opponent in Montana State. If the Ducks sleepwalk through this one, they won’t just hear boos. They might hear the Bobcats celebrating on their field.
The Matchups That Matter
Oregon, of course, has the talent edge on paper. Quarterback Dante Moore, the high-profile transfer from UCLA, will make his debut in green and yellow. He’s expected to lead the Ducks into a new Big Ten era with a strong arm and smart decision-making, but all eyes will be on how quickly he can settle in. His supporting cast includes dynamic sophomore wideout Kyler Kasper and veteran tight end Terrance Ferguson, both capable of stretching the field and creating mismatches.
The offensive line, anchored by Ajani Cornelius at right tackle and Josh Conerly Jr. on the left side, will need to keep Moore upright and limit Montana State’s pressure. It’s a talented group, but chemistry matters early, and the Bobcats’ defense will be looking to exploit any miscommunication.
Defensively, Oregon will lean on returning stars like Matayo Uiagalelei, the explosive edge rusher who notched 7.5 sacks last season, and linebacker Tysheem Johnson, a vocal leader in the middle of the defense. Their job will be to contain Reed’s mobility and prevent the Bobcats from sustaining long, clock-draining drives.
The Stakes Are Real
This game matters more than people might think. For Oregon, it’s about setting the tone for what could be a special season. With a new quarterback, high expectations, and the Big Ten schedule looming, there’s no room for a stumble. A strong, clean win will give the Ducks momentum. A slow start could spark early-season questions and national doubt.
For Montana State, it’s a chance to shock the college football world. A win at Autzen would be the biggest in program history and further solidify their place among the elite in all of college football, not just the FCS.
The Bobcats aren’t coming for exposure. They’re not coming for a payday. They’re coming to win.
And if Oregon isn’t ready, they might just pull it off.
